Jaguar has begun its transformation into an all-electric car brand. Ahead of its global unveil, a prototype of the British marquee's first all-electric luxury model has been revealed.

The carmaker stated that the EV has already completed "tens of thousands of miles in virtual & physical testing". Post the testing on UK's public roads, the all-electric GT is also expected to be tested on public roads and test sites internationally as well.

Coming to the prototype itself, the Jaguar 4-door GT can be seen covered in camouflage, hiding most of its styling details. What is visible is the car's proportions, the all-electric GT features an elongated bonnet, rear-set cabin, a coupe-like sloping roofline at the back and a small flat boot lid. The front has a very upright nose which as per reports will get a new grille motif. In addition, the car can also be seen riding on large-sized tyres.

The new Jaguar 4-door electric GT will be based on the brand's JEA (Jaguar Electric Architecture) and will be produced at the Solihull plant in the UK. Jaguar has yet to confirm any technical details about the vehicle, although the carmaker has confirmed that prices for the EV will start from GBP 100,000.

The market for 100K EVs isn't growing. It's declining. Along with the ridiculous Jaguar re-branding, this EV will fail.

Jag is a dumpster fire at this point. Off-loading the brand is probably the best choice. They built an electric XJ, tested it. Finalized everything and scrapped it right near the launch. The amount of money Jaguar wastes boggles the mind. This new rebrand is so stupid. Any money that they've made in recent years have come from peddling their history. Why Americanize it? I really hoped the new set of Jags would be a fresh breath of air, but sadly it doesn't seem so.

They didn't need the rebrand. Just moving to all-electric with those classic Jaguar shapes would have done the trick. MG is doing great with cars like cyberster that looks and feel like a classic british car, but is fully chinese underneath. Jaguar could have done the same, retain the logo or may be slightly tweak it to reflect the electric nature and bring back all those classic shapes in electric avatar. I am still hopeful of the 4 door GT, because it seems to look good underneath the camouflage. The old jaguar logo would have looked great on that.

The basic shape of the GT looks promising. Even being a BEV, they have gone for a delicious dash to axle ratio.

Looked up the Cyberster. If the Chinese launch cars like these, even a jingoistic fanatic will slowly warm up to Chinese cars.

Poor Jaguar. Didn't bet the house on SUVs & Crossovers like everyone else did. Continued with old & dated sedans that eventually led to embarassing sales figures. This is despite having a sister company that only makes SUVs & Crossovers (Land Rover / Range Rover).

Then, they announced big plans to go all electric! By the time their car is coming, all brands have realised that EV growth is slower than expected. More importantly, EVs aren't exactly popular in the very-expensive segments.

Re: Jaguar's all-electric 4-door GT prototype begins testing ahead of 2 December unveil

Jaguar teases Design Vision Concept, says bye-bye rear window, hello air-con vents.

The teasing continues ahead of the electric GT concept’s debut in Miami on December 2, with a set of new cryptic images.

Jaguar released two more cryptic images today. These appear to show a retractable side trim piece featuring the new leaper logo, with what looks like a camera hidden behind it.

Quote:
In a statement that reads like a crash course in marketing jargon, Jaguar described the concept’s rear detail as a preview of its “design vision,” complete with “bold forms and exuberant proportions.” This study, we’re told, will serve as the foundation for Jaguar’s newly christened design philosophy dubbed “Exuberant Modernism.” Why settle for modern when you can be exuberantly modern?
