Volkswagen-owned Scout brand reborn with body-on-frame electric SUV & Pick-up Volkswagen Group has revived the Scout brand, unveiling two new vehicles in near-production-ready form. The new models; Traveler SUV and Terra pickup will go into production in 2027 and will primarily target the US market. Volkswagen gained the trademark for Scout through Navistar, formerly International Harvester.
The production-spec models on both models will feature body-on-frame with solid rear axle. It is also said to have a towing capability of over 4,500 kg, while the pickup will have a payload capacity of around 900 kg.
The Scout Traveler SUV and Terra pickup get a design inspired by the old international Harvester Scout. It has a squared-out design, a strong shoulder line, flared wheel arches, and angular pillars. These styling elements are paired with modern design elements like square quad projector units with LED DRLs, and unique wrap-around tail lights at the rear spanning the full width of the tailgate. Both models ride on 35-inch off-road tyres.
Inside, the cabin design continues to be inspired again by the International Harvester Scout, paired with modern features. This includes a digital instrument cluster, a central large touchscreen infotainment and a row of physical buttons below it. Scout states both the Traveler and Terra will be offering two two seating layouts with an option for bench seats in the front.
Both, the Traveler and Terra will be offered with electric powertrains and a petrol range-extender option. The pure EVs claim to offer 560 km of range, while the range-extender models offer 800 km range. Both models will get a four-wheel drive with an electric motor on each axle. The exact power figures on both models though are yet to be officially announced. Link to Team-BHP news |
