Re: Tata Nexon.ev launched with a larger 45 kWh battery; 489 km range

How is it that the new Nexon 45kwh has a midc (1+2) range of 489km while Curvv 55kwh only has 502km of range?

Where has all that extra 10kwh gone?

Is the new Nexon superior in terms of battery/motor (compared to the latest Curvv)?

In the view of Tata's EV Battery 'hv-critical-alert' issue widespread prevalance, does it make even sense?
Its sheer playing with common man's money and time. Instead of coming up with a responsible statement about the issue in the public space, Tata Motor has the audacity to bring one more variant of the same. Such is the situation of law and order in our country. All the affected owners should come together and file a lawsuite against the culprit automaker.

Re: Tata Nexon.ev launched with a larger 45 kWh battery; 489 km range

Hi, brilliant move by Tata. Nexon.ev is a very good & successful product. 45kWh battery would realistically give 300km range (100% to 10%) even in sports mode.

Nexon.ev may not have Windsor EV level space at the back, but 45kWh battery for the price of 38kWh battery pack with real world range of 300km, in any weather condition & drive mode, is difficult to ignore.

It is just that if Tata somehow manage to improve their factory level QC, then there are very high chances that in coming months Tata will reach to No. 2 position in sales chart.

God bless the competition and hope other manufacturers also take India serious and launch new & updated products regularly.

The 489 number is ARAI

Re: Tata Nexon.ev launched with a larger 45 kWh battery; 489 km range

This is a brilliant move. Nexon finally gets a battery tech upgrade after 4 years. Nexon EV 45 is now a complete city car, and also better suited to the occasional highway run. 45kwh is a very good battery size, acceptable for most people under most circumstances, with the added benefit of faster DC charging. Panoramic sunroof is icing on the cake, it will make the rear seat feel more airy. The prices have also been formally corrected, the discounts are now officially incorporated into the ex showroom cost. Tata has responded to the MG Windsor in the best possible way. Too bad, it has again taken an MG to make Tata wake up from its slumber. It was exactly this way 8 months back when Tata had to start discounting the Nexon after MG cut the prices of ZS EV. A move proactive approach will be much appreciated.

Re: Tata Nexon.ev launched with a larger 45 kWh battery; 489 km range

I suppose the biggest impact will now be on the Curvv sales, specially the 45KW versions. Feature wise the Nexon Empowered+ 45 very closely matches with the Curvv Empowered+ 55. In Curvv, the additional 4 lks gets you:
- Slightly higher range 501 vs 489
- Slightly larger wheelbase
- Larger boot 500 liters vs 350
- Coupe design
- New acti.ev architecture (although it will not matter to the end customer)

Not sure if these are worth the premium, we will see soon enough in the monthly sales figures.

Battery 'hv-critical-alert' issue in Tata cars is predominantly only in the Nexon EV MAX variants with Ziptron tech. The 30 KWh variants or other new models do not face any of these issues. Also there is a recent software update for the issue. Don't even think is a permanent solution. It is a bypass solution. If the Battery develops 'hv-critical-alert' issue, the car used to stall. Now the car will go all the way till your home or service center or till you battery is completely drained!

Nexon 45kwh - 489km claimed range
Curvv 55kwh - 502 km claimed range

How come that extra 10kwh (a 22% increase in battery capacity) in Curvv adds a mere 3% to the claimed range?

Hi, I think 489km claimed range is ARAI and revised MIDC range for Nexon.ev 45kWh should be around 430km.

489km is the revise MIDC for 45Kwh (and not ARAI)
350+km is what they claim for C75

Re: Tata Nexon.ev launched with a larger 45 kWh battery; 489 km range

Good to see Tata rationalizing Nexon.ev lineup. Much needed as there were too many variants without much value!

As Someone already suggested, Tata should also rationalize Tiago.ev and Punch.ev. Tiago.ev should just get 25kwh battery with more kit on XE and XT variants. Punch.ev also should just get 35kwh battery beginning base variants. I see no point in MR variants on any Tata.ev

How is that even possible? 40.5 KWh Nexon's revised MIDC range is 390 KM. You bump up the battery by 10%. So maximum additional range you can get is 10% i.e 39 KM. Which translates to max 430 KM.

Agreed. They should remove the MR variants and price the LR in MR rates.

Point 5 in the image below is key for the upgraded Nexon. This version of battery should have been launched with the updated Nexon but better late than never. Till date MG has used prismatic cells in all their EVs in India.
