For calculating range, I basically look at the KMs run on the odo and the drop is battery percentage during same time. Eg. Last time I charged it to 100% and noted the odo that time. Next time when I was charging it, took the odo reading again. It was a 60% from in battery percentage and odo had run about 127 km during this time. So I calculated range as about 212 km
1 - Absolutely right. As a matter of fact, on the iSmart app
a) Tap the hamburger sign on the top left
b) Tap on Smart Drive
c) You shall be able to observe the driving patterns of the vehicle, each time the vehicle is switched ON or OFF.
d) On this screen, on tapping 'tracking', you can see the route the vehicle has taken, hence keeping a 'hawk's eye' on the vehicle's movement.
e) Geo fencing, am sure you would be aware
f) iSmart has a digital key option, wherein there is no need to physically carry the key FOB, all functions can be operated through iSmart
g) Also, once can share the key digitally to any alternate number - the alternate number just has to down load iSmart, you as the primary owner can share the key digitally permanently or for a specify time / date / duration

To be honest, Tirex is unheard of. The manufacturer of the 7.4 Kw charger is Exicom, the model being Spin, this is what is provided with the car. You may need to check with your dealer please. Something seems to be out of place here.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Can that big screen be used for seeing YouTube, Netflix or other OTT apps while charging or idling in the car? Alternatively can a movie be played using a pen drive?

During my first service I got done few days back, I have been told that YouTube or Netflix is not available and the only way to access some ott content is through the ottplay app available on the store.
Though the service representative told me that we can play movies through the pendrive (haven't tested it yet). we do get a battery drain warning on the screen during the charge even if we play some music.

Not sure about YouTube/Netflix, but I think there is option for OTTPlay app inside the app section. Also I have played movie via pendrive when idling and it works for selected formats only.

I have recently got my first service done and I have been getting an average between 300-280.

1. First I drove the vehicle in Eco+ heavy regen in the light traffic and a bit of highway for 158 kms and it consumed 51% battery.
2. After the full charge from a dc fast charger I was attending a family wedding and the total trip was 278kms and when the reached home I still had 28% battery. Was driving in Eco and light regen as most of the drive was through highway and ac was set to 25 with fan speed 3.
3. During another trip which was 189kms (battery at 98%) I was driving with ac 24 and fan at 6 as we had 5 people in the car (peek afternoon) and was driving with Eco with heavy regen. When I reached home I had only 26% battery with 81kms range.

Does it give you the battery drain warning while playing it?
If so will that be effecting the LV battery?
Do you also keep the AC ON while charging?
I was under the impression that during vehicle charge the consumption is not through LV battery.

This is what I have. Received it with the car only. Even I had mostly seen the spin charger with most of the people but thought MG might be having multiple vendors.
Actually something little weird, the box of this charger said Spin Charger .

This whole thing is not looking too good for me. Charged the battery to 100% at home last night. Have driven 64 km since morning and the SOC has dropped to 65% already. Translates to a range of 182

Raise the issue with the MG guys. That range is way too less.
I had charged my car to 97% and currently I am at 75% having run 60km. Range of ~ 270km.
Do a short highway trip keeping your running below 80kmph and test the range after topping upto 100%.

Stepney

Anyone who has got the stephny installed please share your thoughts on ride quality after that? Does the extra weight in the boot translate to a better ride quality over bad roads?

https://www.cartoq.com/car-news/mg-w...ch-april-2025/

Could anyone verify if these reports of the 50kWh Windsor launching within the end of this month are true?

I’ve booked the Windsor Essence 38kWh and plan to release the payment in a couple of days. Range and the lack of ADAS is my biggest concern and looks like both will be sorted out in the 50kWh variant.

I don’t mind waiting for a few more weeks and paying a couple of lakhs more for the bigger battery pack.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

So this morning, there was a software update on my Windsor, which took around 20 minutes to install. Post installation, I reset the trip meter and drove the car for around 32.8 km and the battery consumed was only 9% which is almost 3.64 km per percent. I don't understand how this is possible when the claimed range itself is 3.3 km per percent. I usually get between 2.8-3.1km per percent. Can this be an error in the instrument cluster where it is showing incorrect battery left or incorrect kms drive post the software update. I mean I don't mind clocking more range of 3.64 kms per percent but just wondering how all of a sudden this happened. Also, I should mention that I was driving the car in ECO mode heavy regen, and the AC was 23.5 degrees at fan speed between 1 and 2 but I usually drive the car in the same mode and same AC settings. The only difference was that there was no traffic in the morning and the outside temperature was cool, but I doubt that should result in such increased range.

It’s the traffic and weather nothing else. No amount of SW update ever fix range in my experience of owning EVs over last 3 years

In winter months driving on empty city roads I have been able to drive 40 kms with 10% drop in battery with AC on fan mode and ECO+ mode with heavy regen.

So this is not due to any software update but mostly due to less traffic and cool weather.

Lovely review. Heart-felt congrats. Good environmental choice and kudo on being an early adopter.

One suggestion- please reassess usage of bull bars. It may turnout to be counter productive in the event of collision. It is detrimental to function of crumple zones.
