I have noticed that the range drops for me within City compared to Highway runs likely due to shorter run distances and frequent stops and starts.
I am currently running at range of ~250km. Last charged to 90% at a mall and run 139km so far and current SOC 35%. Completely within city. AC use isn't much (Have got sunfilms). Wireless carplay always with phone connected for charging. Normal mode, High regen. Try to maximise regen and minimal breaking.

I usually notice better expected range when I slow charge to 100% overnight. May be 270ish within city. Never above 300km. 300km range i have got only in the slow single lane highways. Mys-bang is usually 250-260km and Bang- Mys is usually 300km.
The range in EV in very sensitive to driving styles i believe.

Regarding 360 camera:
The 360 reverse cam doesnt shut off after putting to drive mode. I have set it to switch off above 20km/hr speed.
The cam that turns on after pressing the the turn indicator switches off on turning the indicator, doesnt persist.
For ease of operation I too have set the * button to 360cam.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Is there a way to turn off music from the steering controls? I can change tracks and volume but couldn't pause/play music.

Turn on Direct commands. ‘Stop Music’ command does the trick even without pressing the voice button. ‘Start music’ will continue the song.

Press voice button - select settings - enable direct commands.

- long press volume down button will mute.
- Customizing * button to mute is also an option.
- In Mg Home Screen swipe down for a shortcut menu and turn volume down.

Please try not to use the brake as much as possible and let the regen take care of the deacceleration. It took some time for me as well to learn this as I have been an ICE driver for the last 20 years. Also, you can play around with the regen settings and see if keeping it at Normal gives you better mileage.

I drive in Hyderabad and get a lot of traffic for the office<->home commute, I get around 230 in these conditions. On Highway, I do get close to 260-270. And AC with the temperature below 22C and a blower >3 really reduced the mileage; that's what I have noticed too. Keeping the blower low is difficult, but don't reduce the temperature below 23 if possible. Please see if these help.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Hello All

I am just done with my first service. It was done quickly and not much hassle at the service station .
They brought to my notice the service plan which they have started , the prices are mentioned in the below pic. Please suggest if it is worth going for this plan as this is an EV vehicle and we will need to go to MG service centre only throughout its lifetime .

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Not sure how much of the description mentioned in the video stands true. If it is, its a matter of serious concern if the brakes failed to control.

This is the 2nd such video of a MG Windsor rocketing off without control. Is there something wrong in their control systems?

The first viral one was a negligence on the driver part. But this video states a complete different story. Not sure how can the braking system be overridden with a software glitch.

Check if there is any idle drain overnight.

That could be eating into the charge which is causing extra drain and eating into the range.

Another peculiar observation for this would be better range on highways compared to short-trips city usage. The latter is where an EV excels.

This is scary. As per the video description this is not the case of accidentally pressing A pedal instead of brake. The car is not stopping and but accelerating inspite of applying brakes. Can a glitch happen like that? Somebody with knowledge of Car mechanics should answer this. Till then we just pray it doesnt repeat to any of us.

From what the owner of the vehicle, who was driving the car during the crash is saying, this seems to be a very scary accident.

Does the Windsor have brake by wire? A BBW failure could explain this accident.

Since I don't think the Windsor has brake by wire, I think the more realistic scenario is that the A-pedal malfunctioned and sensor got stuck in the fully depressed position which meant the car sent full power to wheels. Since electric cars make full torque at all RPMs, the brakes would have been overpowered and failed.

Whatever the reason, this is a serious issue and from the replies on the video it seems that MG is not treating it with the appropriate level of seriousness and urgency.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

A question to the experts (as well as the folks who have booked and using Windsor EV), did you get the Paint-Protection-Coating and other Teflon etc coating from the Dealer as part of the car delivery or is it suggested to go to a dedicated 3M dealer to get those done. The ones being provided by dealer in Bangalore make the ticket price higher by 1.4L on the top model.
