Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Anyone facing issue with iSmart syncing? It is saying remote instruction failed please try again later since last night. I had turned on anti theft immobilization a couple if days ago as i was going out of station. Now the app is failing to sync and I have no way of turning it off. The car won’t start unless I turn off this feature from the app.

Checked just now. Syncing is working fine. Try calling iCall from car and ask for help or contact pulsehub. In era of connected car this seems to be bit worrying. Connection to server should be seamless.

This is a serious concern. Were the MG people able to resolve this issue? Your car was parked in area with network? Only the engine doesn’t start or the car itself wouldn’t unlock?

I agree. MG will keep pricing VFM and differentiate WIndsor50 by variant trim levels. They will add 1 - 1.2Lacs for the bigger battery pack. May skip the entry level Excite variant, and possibly rejig the variants a little bit to make all Windsor50 variants more suitable for long distance/ highway drives.

1. Windsor50 Exclusive. Switch wheels to steel rims 17" with wheel covers, add a spare wheel and ventilated seats front and back, to compensate for the poor AC. ~16 - 16.2L
2. Windsor50 Essense. Adds Alloys + steel spare wheel+ that sunroof +ambient lighting, more speakers. ~17 - 17.2L. Includes the 7KW charger. MG claims it to be worth 40-50K, but it could not be costing them more than 20K.
3. Windsor50 Essense Pro. Adds ADAS. ~18 - 18.2L

No free charging offer.

This way, the Windsor50 starts at/just above where the Windsor38 ends. It may reduce some of Windsor38 Essence sales, as some people will prefer a longer battery in the Windsor50 Exclusive. That's fine by MG. It could still double the total Windsor sales to 6 - 7,000 units a month. Hope they put the 50 in the name and as a badge on the car.

So here is the whole story. I unlocked the car and stepped in. The instrument cluster said anti theft is on and asked me to disable it via the app. Now as the app wasn’t syncing even though the car had good range. So I called Pulsehub and they asked me to check in my MG app if my Jio sim in the car had data. Which upon checking there was 1.84gb / 2gb left. They then asked me to redownload the app. Now the moment I did this, i has to relogin. Upon relogin the app asked for otp verification but it gave an error saying network issue. The pulsehub executive gave me the number of my nearest service center and asked me to call them.

So i called the nearest service center which also happens to be the dealership i purchased the car from. The tech guy was unavailable so a callback in the next 5mins was arranged. The tech guy called in 5mins and understood all that i did. So he asked me to send my id and password to him. He tried it on his end and an otp was triggered. He was able to login but said that the car is not syncing. So i asked why was he able to login and not me. Upon discussion we realised that iOS is having some issue but Android is letting you log in. Luckily I had an android phone so i logged in but the main issue persisted that the app and car didn’t sync and I was unable to turn off anti theft immobilization. The tech guy said he will send someone and they will reach my location in the next 30mins. I asked what they will do, he simply said they will perform a reset and the app will sync. I asked is it okay if i do it, he said sure, if I was technically sound, I could do it. He guided me. Now there are two resets in settings. One is a soft one and one is a factory one. He asked me to do the soft one and the voila, the app synced and the issue was resolved.

So ultimately here is what i learnt. If app isn’t syncing, just perform a soft reset and it syncs. This process takes 5 seconds. You will just have to reconfigure the settings under the settings menu. This is different from vehicle settings. Vehicle settings remains as is.

Another thing i learnt is that iOS is buggy and I am still unable to sign in on my iPhone. I am currently using and Android device for iSmart.

Lastly, Pulsehub and MG service is very responsive when it comes to their EV’s. The whole on call process took 10-15mins and they were ready to deploy a team to my location after 10minutes of discussion set to arrive in 30minutes. This is actually the kind of prompt after sales service I was looking for after buying an EV. Really glad i bought an MG. I remember on the second day of getting the car I called the charger guy saying I think my car isnt charging at full speed. At 8pm in the night the executive video called me and attended the issue. So this was my second time and believe me I am so satisfied and at peace of mind. Huge thumbs up to MG for putting in place such a prompt team

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Has anyone seen Windsor with a yellow number plate yet..?
Also, is there any requirement or process for registering a car under commercial number plate.

I have seen EV cabs in Telangana and all of them have the same teal green number plate as personally registered EV.

All EVs comes with default green number plate. The commercial ones / cabs comes with a yellow numbers written on green plate. While the Private ones comes with white numbers written on green plate.

What I meant with yellow number plate was the first scenario where-in the yellow numbers are written on a green plate.

Haven't seen any. Going by MG's trend with commercial EV's it took them quite some time till they started selling ZS commercial purposes, almost at the end of the lifecycle of the model, which started with BluSmart.

May be they will do the same with Windsor too.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Recently i checked Windsor EV, everything looks good except the battery size and range. Anyone knows if MG plan to launch 50kW battery model anytime soon?

I have essence , for a city like mumbai wherein I drive mostly within it, it's very good and total VFM, going by market rates and other brands more range will result in 4 lakh plus on road approx for a total of 100 kms range addition which I personally do not think is worth it.

Which vehicle did you come from and how do you compare the ride quality, NVH and feel over Mumbai's craters of your Windsor to the old vehicle?

Everyone on this page and especially in this forum is waiting and looking forward for the launch of Windsor 50 kwh variant. There is no specific news from MG yet but it will be launch may be by 2nd or 3rd quarter of this year.

We all are eagerly waiting for the 50 kwh launch.

Re: MG Windsor EV Review

Currently MG India appears to be capacity constrained in EV production. Don't know how many shifts they are running. So unless there is a sales dip due to launches of Creta, E-Vitara and BE6. MG won't be in a hurry to launch the 50 kWh version, but they will most likely launch it when the base model versions from the above competition is available for delivery which is still several months away.

MG might not have expected so many bookings for Windsor EV and are definitely short on production capacity.

MG likely knows by now that there is good demand for 50kWh Windsor. If they announce timeline for 50kWh launch now, some percentage of the current booking will wait for higher battery pack. MG has already has setup all production capacity and supply chain for existing battery pack and variants, introducing new battery pack could result in demand and production mismatch. A change in demand vs production will result in surplus EV inventory which most likely MG wants to avoid at this point of time. I have seen MG Hector and Astor on discounts every 3-4 months so there is surplus inventory of their ICE cars lying at dealer or company stockyard.
