Don't think it is only because of the MG Windsor launch. It is the Festive season in Kerala (Onam) and the state is one of their biggest markets (if not 'the' biggest). The picture also depicts Onam celebrations (and Diwali too?).

Reasons can be plenty. But why do it just a day before MG Windsor launch?
Onam started on 6th Sep and ends on 15th Sep, isn't it late?
Festivities are yet to begin for northern India as next week - 17th Sep is the start of Shradh/Pitru Paksha month which is considered inauspicious by many. So launching festival offer before that?

None of those are the major factors. Dwindling sales despite multiple models is the main reason for the drastic price reductions. It was evident when they priced the Currv EV with a bigger battery, and faster charging at a similar pricing to the Nexon EV that the price corrections for the Nexon EVs are coming. EV margins are very high due to 5% GST, PLI incentives, and rapidly declining battery prices. They were greedy with Nexon EV facelift, Punch, and Tiago EVs. All these have tiny batteries with very low DC fast charging but very high prices. In the last 4 years, Nexon EV battery capacity has been the same despite a huge decline in battery prices, technology improvements, and an increase in volumes. Current Nexon EV sales are way lower than in 2022, even with the facelift. These prices should have been the launch prices of the facelift last year. Better late than never.

The original launch prices of the Nexon EV facelift were between Rs 14.74 lakhs to Rs 19.94 lakhs. In just 1 year, prices are down to Rs 12.49 lakhs for the base and Rs 16.29 lakhs for the top-end variants.

Completely agreed with @sri_tesla and it was clear they were milking the segment with high profitability till there was no viable competition. Honestly the 0.7c charging speed is a joke in today's technology and severely limits the usability of the car. A price correction and normalisation was long overdue, I think they should and must drop further for the Nexon and Punch by about a lakh from here for the base variant and about 1.2L for the top end. Its a lot of money for very little car.

Hi, most likely Tata is clearing the unsold stock of Nexon EV and since Nexon EV price has come down to Punch EV level, therefore, reduced the price of Punch EV.

I had almost purchased a Nexon Max Top Model and this is the exact statement I had in my mind when I eventually cancelled the plan and instead bought a XUV 700.

Moving over a very hasty decision from Tata Motors. I pray for TM that MG doesn't price their Windsor too agressively now.

They could have waited for just a day more and slashed prices accordingly.

It is funny to watch how all companies are playing "Game of Price Cuts".

Curvv EV would soon be like "Mujhe Kyon Peeta?"

I now hope Windsor gets launched with a starting price of 9.99 lakhs so that Tata can further price correct to more realistic numbers. It might force BYD as well to not price gauge it's eMax 7 launch.

I personally think the Windsor will be a flop, it's a minivan ish design with low ground clearance a weird front. I have a thing for vans so I like it, but I'm in the minority here. Also MG has traditionally been optimistic with their pricing though the JSW-MG JV might change that. None of their products had a shockingly low sticker price to start.

With their preemptive price cut TATA has put some pressure on MG to price the Windsor well, and have left themselves a way to raise their prices back marginally (as these prices are limited offers) if the Windsor is not priced well.

That said I still think there is room for further price reduction considering the ancient battery architecture and limited charging speed of the Tiago and Nexon. And if Nexon prices decrease, Punch prices have to decrease too. Punch is a generation newer and probably a better buy. Pity it has room to seat only 4 adults comfortably.

Re: Tata Motors slashes EV prices by up to Rs 1.2 lakh

Nexon EV Facelift is fast turning into another SCross 1.6 or Jimny. A car which is overpriced to begin with, and doesn’t move without discounts. It doesn’t bode well for the company, the product, it’s resale value and of course the customers who feel cheated. A completely avoidable and self created mess.

Are these discounts (both EV and ICE) cash discounts that are applicable on the ex-showroom prices of all the variants or do they include exchange offers etc too?

Re: The "NEW" Car Price Check Thread - Track Price Changes, Discounts, Offers & Deals

Fallen battery prices, unreasonable price hikes in last 1-2 years, left over stocks, desperation to clear stocks before calendar year change, might be the reasons for the discounts. I've a strong feeling that other manufacturers also will take similar measures. Anyways, glad to see the discounts after many years. First Mahindra with XUV700 discounts and now Tata.

Looking at moving to an electric car.

Compared between - XUV 400; Punch EV, Nexon EV and considered Curvv.ev too.

Space wise - XUV 400 is the best, followed by NexonEV, Curvv.ev and then Punch.
Curvv.ev , Empower+ is almost at 22.2 on the road. While has more features and looks bigger, the cabin was a disappointment.
XUV 400 EL Pro - with 3LK additional discount feels like a much better buy. Onroad now comes to sub 15.5 Lk in Bangalore.

Got the final price for XUV 400 EL Pro from my Dealer.
Ex-showroom - 17,69,000
Dicsount - 3,00,000
Net - 14,69,000
Fasttag - 600
TCS - 14690
RTO - 2662
Insurance - 70000

Total - 15,56,953/-

Taking the insurance from ACKO - the price final Price comes to 15,27,000/-

Sounds like a fabulous deal at this price. Getting the car at the price of Punch EV.

Planning to finally buy one.
