According to reports, the all-electric Mercedes C-Class sedan will arrive in 2026.

The upcoming electric C-Class will come with a design that balances Mercedes' futuristic EQ styling with that of the brand's more traditional ICE-powered models. The C-Class EV is also said to use a modified version of the EQE's EVA2 platform rather than a new-gen electric architecture. This, as per reports, will help Mercedes divert some of its resources to fund its ICE development, which will run into the next decade.



Mercedes released a statement saying, "The pace of transformation is determined by market conditions and the needs of our customers. We will build the perfect Mercedes-Benz for every customer. Into the 2030s, we can flexibly offer vehicles with both a fully electric drivetrain or an electrified hi-tech combustion engine."

Mercedes-Benz recently announced that it plans to kill off the EQS and replace it with a S-Class EV. This could become a similar case with the C-Class as well, with both the ICE and EV versions being sold alongside each other.

Mercedes will revert to a familiar set of proportions with the new C-Class. The new sedan is expected to have a clean body and a traditional sedan boot opening. It will also get a new front-end design, a full-width light bar and flush door handles; among others.

While Mercedes is yet to unveil details of the powertrain, reports suggest it could come with both single-motor and dual-motor setup, with a large lithium-ion battery housed under the cabin floor. The upcoming C-Class EV could have a range of up to 400 miles on a single charge and have a peak charging speed of up to 200 kW on a DC fast charger.

Reports also state that Mercedes will introduce high-performance AMG versions, with one of them having already been spied testing.
