Kia has filed a design patent for the updated EV6 electric crossover in India, which suggests that the carmaker is planning to launch the facelift version in the near future.



The Kia EV6 facelift made its global debut in May this year. The electric crossover gets several design tweaks on the inside and out, as well as a larger battery.

The updated EV6 gets triangular LED headlamps, a reworked front bumper, subtle changes to the rear end and new 20-inch alloy wheels. On the interior, the EV6 facelift comes with a new 3-spoke steering wheel, dual screens and a digital IRVM.

Powering the EV6 is an 84 kWh battery pack, as opposed to the 77.4 kWh offered currently in India. The single-motor RWD version packs 222 BHP and 350 Nm, while the dual-motor AWD version has 316 BHP and 605 Nm.

The EV6 facelift, with the larger battery, can cover up to 494 km on a single charge, depending on the variant.

With the new 15% import duty law in place, I do hope Kia/Hyundai take advantage of it before launching this car. 100% CBU import duty really kills appeal of any car to me, as I'd rather burn my money than pay to the government as taxes.

What is this new law? Is it the reduced duty for CKD?

If a company invests $500M in manufacturing EVs in India, they’re allowed to import EVs at just 15% duty vs 70/100% currently.

This is for CBU imports, making them the same price as CKD. Hyundai is anyway going to invest at least $500M in India EV so might as well take advantage of it.

I hope Kia launches their EV3. If it comes with 15% duty, it would be a great buy. It's got heavily inspired by EV9 and seems to be the perfect car needed here.

Kia EV6 facelift gets a bigger 84kWh battery delivering a claimed range of over 650km; bookings open today and prices will be revealed in March.

Like the pre-facelift EV6, two GT-Line variants will be available: rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD).

The EV6 showcased at Auto Expo has a larger 84kWh battery pack (previously 77.4kWh).This battery powers two motors making a combined 325hp, 605Nm and providing all-wheel drive. Kia claims a range of over 650km on a single-charge.

Kia has unveiled the refreshed EV6 at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in New Delhi.





Features an 84-kWh battery, offering a claimed range of over 650 km, a significant improvement from the previous 77.4 kWh. Output = 321 BHP and 605 Nm:

On the inside, the EV6 features a dual 31.2cm (12.3-inch) panoramic curved display, integrating Kia's next-generation infotainment system- the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit. The vehicle is also equipped with Kia Connect 2.0, allowing Kia Connect Diagnostics and Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates. Additionally, Digital Key 2.0 (featuring Ultra-Wideband technology) transforms a compatible smartphone into a virtual key:

The EV6 is equipped with ADAS 2.0 which includes 27 advanced safety and driver assistance features. As compared to previous EV6 five additional ADAS 2.0 features have added – Front Collisions Avoidance assist (FCA) – City/Pedestrian/Cyclist/Junction Turning, Forward Collision Avoidance (FCA) – Junction crossing, Forward Collision Avoidance– Lane Assist Change (FCA) – Oncoming & Side, Forward Collision Avoidance assist (FCA) – Evasive Steering and Lane Follow Assist (LFA).

The previous gen car was prettier. They need to price this right. After the previous gen car sold at such huge discounts by Kia to clear stock I don’t think people will stomach a high price tag for it again.

EV cars are being presented the most in expo because that's where most of the innovation lies. Though only a handful i.e the Creta electric and eVitara are going to seriously compete in the market this year.

Btw I often see the terms Auto expo, Bharat Mobility expo, Bharat Mobility Auto Expo being used for the same event.

Are they the same event or is there subtle difference like Bharat Mobility being the grand event and Auto expo a part of it .
