BYD M6 electric MPV India launch in the coming weeks. EDIT: Named eMax 7

Seems like the BYD M6 is India bound.

If priced well between 25 and 35 lacs this will be a cracker.

Re: Scoop! Previous-gen BYD e6 electric MPV spotted in India

BYD e6 facelift teased for India.

The updated e6 was unveiled at the GIIAS auto show in Indonesia earlier this year.

Is this going to be a 7 seater? The one in Indonesia was launched with 7 seater.

The image is for BYD M6. BYD E6 and M6 are different cars. BYD E6 was derived from BYD Song Max. BYD M6 is BYD Song Max in China. In 2024 new model for BYD M6 was launched in ASEAN markets like Thailand, Hongkong and Indonesia. The biggest difference between E6 and M6 is 5 seater only vs 6 seater and 7 seater options.

BYD M6 will be direct competitor to Toyota Innova Hycross

Starting with the M6, it certainly appears the Chinese NEV-making giants have another winner in its hands, especially for the massive Indonesian market where said vehicle type is highly popular. Effectively, this is a rebadged iteration of its budget-oriented e6 EV MPV.
However, unlike the e6 model it underpins, the M6 boasts upmarket looks, greater sophistication and more power, but it hasn’t lost its value-driven roots despite this repositioning. For Indonesia, the M6 comes in three variants – Standard 7-seat, Superior 7-seat, and Superior 6-seat.

In Indonesia it has 7 seater and 6 seater options, and the top end 7 seater version is 20% cheaper than the Atto 3 Extended Range superior variant.

By that comparison the 7 seater top end should be between 28 and 30 lacs here in India.

Re: Scoop! Previous-gen BYD e6 electric MPV spotted in India

BYD needs to increase their footprint in India first. Without that, there isn't going to be confidence to plonk 2-3 million rupees on their products.

The 7 looking streak on the advert may hint it could be a 7 seater.

re: BYD M6 electric MPV India launch in the coming weeks. EDIT: Named eMax 7

I was comparing the prices of M6 vs Atto3 on their Singapore website. It seems like M6 is coming to be costlier than Atto3 by around 15-20%. If they are arranging the vehicle similar way that Atto3 (which I believe is CKD?), then we can expect higher prices for M6. Let's see how this does in the Indian market.

Also, is there any update on BYD getting the investment approvals from Indian government?

BYD is slightly inconsistent on this and in Singapore seems like price is not announced yet. In Indonesia it is 20% cheaper than the Atto 3 (429 MIDR Vs 515 MIDR). In HK it seems reverse. In HK it is even more than the Seal. I guess it may be dependent on the local tax structure. Also in most markets it is 20-25% cheaper than Innova Hybrid.

But one reference is that the launch price is very close to the earlier E6 price. Almost same as E6.

Don’t think it can command a price significantly higher than 30 lacs, given the dimensions. Interior is also quite plain compared to Seal and Atto 3.

I checked with the dealer also and he has no idea on launch timelines or expected price.

Actually you are right. I had checked the prices in HongKong and they were higher than Atto3. I hope they follow Indonesia prices here and price it lower than Atto3. Currently Atto3 feels over priced even with their new dynamic models.

Please pay attention to Singapore Atto 3 specs, which produces only 100kW of power compared to the Indian spec which produces 150kW. This could be the reason for pricing.

re: BYD M6 electric MPV India launch in the coming weeks. EDIT: Named eMax 7

Just booked BYD M6 today with dealer nearby as unofficial booking.
Seems like super practical car.
As informed by dealer, it is expected to be launched in first week of October followed by deliveries around Diwali.
