I think the diesel in Curvv is dubbed '1.5L Kryojet'

Tata is calling this a new diesel engine. See this post for details:

Marketing spiel. There's a new bunch of dream-sellers at the helm. Give them a chance to do something and earn a promotion!

Not that anything is wrong with the Nexon Diesel. Its a very well engineered powertrain.

I do agree with you. Same engine like Nexon oil burner but a brand new name for the one under the bonnet of Curvv diesel. Just a marketing gimmick like you said.

It is the same 1.5L revotorq found under the bonnet of Nexon Diesel. They chose a new name just to keep things interesting.

Well documented short test drive, loved the way you managed to capture every nook and corner of the vehicle in such short while. Excellent explanation indeed.
However appreciate your optimism in the last paragraph.

Re: Tata Curvv EV Review

Their marketing is doing pretty commendable job. Hope they do the same with technical expertise and quality control. It will go a long way in improving their existing position in terms of sales figures/market share, which is already so high.

Re: Tata Curvv EV Review

So finally checked out the Curvve Ev at Tumkur Tata dealership. First Tata car that looks bigger externally and is smaller inside whereas every other previous car was bigger inside than the exterior suggested. Tata missed an opportunity here, a bigger punch or nexon was good enough, that coupe design looks good externally but messed up the internal space. I found the front seats more cramped than the nexon or punch but still manageable but rear is totally messed up, in the middle seat I hardly had a inch over my head and I am only 5'7" tall. I don't know what stopped them from making the roof line 3 inches taller. No rear pockets for front seats shows the lack of space at the back, every inch mattered to them (the Punch EV has these). No volume control on the rear AC vent is another unneeded compromise. So the only thing going for the car is the range. Now I am having less heart burn for having brought the Punch EV. A could have been great product marred by severely lacking space. What a miss.

Curvv.EV charging curve and time curve.

Quote:
With Peak DC charging rate of 70kW, the Curvv can add 120kms of driving range in just under 15mins.

With Zeon's 120kW Fast Charger, the Curvv boosts from 20% to 80% in just 36 minutes.

Bigger battery = more weight and also more time to charge might be true generally but not true in the Indian context.

Honestly there is no comparison between Nexon LR and Curvv for highway usage.

Curvv tops out at 70 kW DC charging whereas the Nexon caps out at a painfully slow 30 kW.

You will easily save an hour or more on a 500 KM journey on the Curvv vs Nexon.

To compare this with ZS EV which did 10% to 80% in 40 mins or added 35 kWh of charge in 40 min.

The Curvv EV LR in the same 120 kW Zeon charger did 19% to 80% in 36 mins or added 33.5 kWh in 36 mins, so when you extroplilate to 40 mins it will add 37 kWh in theory but more in reality, since the speed from 10% to 19% will be near it's peak charging speed, so it would be around 38 kWh in 40 mins.

So now compare that to full capacity of a Nexon MR 30 kWh battery for example in a Zeon charger, it goes from 6% to 80% in 62 mins and then it takes 32 mins to go from 80% to 100%. So for adding 28.39 kWh of charge it took 1hr 34min.

So the idea that a Nexon MR or LR will charge faster is a myth.
