Mahindra XUV 3XO EV spotted testing

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV spied for the first time.

The XUV 3XO EV will be about 200mm shorter in length than the XUV400.

Quote:
The XUV 3XO EV will get some styling tweaks over the ICE version
To be positioned below XUV400

the e-SUV will come with a 35kWh battery, which is smaller than the 40kWh one seen on the larger XUV400 EV. But as of now, there are no details on the range or electric motor specifications. The XUV 3XO EV will be positioned below XUV400 and will likely undercut the latter by around Rs 2 lakh.

Re: Mahindra to launch 8 electric SUVs by 2027

Too late for it to come out, why make the customer wait. Why cant they launch it like Tata, same day all platforms.

What would they do with the inventory of the existing 400 EV? This is the reason for delayed launch.

Re: Mahindra to launch 8 electric SUVs by 2027

For this to take off, Mahindra needs to price it quite agressively as the recent launch of Curvv.ev has already sent shockwaves of discounts all across tata's EV pricing ladder. The Tata.ev are already at a discounts on their marked price and this launch from M&M needs to account for that.

The XUV400 competes with the Nexon.ev but punches above its weight due to great rear seat space. Similarly, 3XO EV should compete with the Punch.EV albeit at a lower asking price but with decent rear seat space unlike the Punch.EV. Another thing to note is that Tata is expected to launch the Altroz.EV sometime in 2025 and if Curvv.EV pricing is anything to go by.... Mahindra is gonna have a tough time battling it out with Tata for the EV market share.

Seriously, are you comparing 3XO with punch ?

Seems you’re unaware about cars but 3XO competes with nexon, sonnet, venue but punches [pun intended] still above them as it’s a chopped off tivoli which rivals against creta, seltos in other markets since 3XO is more powerful, wider and has more wheelbase compared to creta, seltos etc

Punch atmost can be compared with Exter,Magnite,kiger,C3 class of vehicles.

I guess you didn't read my post clearly.

Remember that there is no lower tax bracket for sub4m cars in EV segment. I said the XUV400 competes with the Nexon.ev with the trump card being rear seat space. However if the 3XO EV comes to fruition, it will compete with the Punch.EV because it is going to sit lower in the pricing ladder, atleast 2 Lakhs cheaper than the current XUV400, due to its rumored LFP battery chemistry and a smaller battery pack.

Also, couldn't find my earlier post, but the refreshed XUV400 is also possible due to the patent filings leaked from M&M. This explicitly mentions two battery packs from LG Chem and Farasis, with NMC battery chemistry. So yeah, there is going to a 3XO EV and an XUV400 which are going to compete with the Punch.EV and Nexon.EV respectively.

This means, Punch.EV / Altroz.EV - 3XO EV LFP, Nexon.EV - XUV400 NMC, and Curvv.EV - Any model from BE lineup (probably BE.05)

Just because the 3X0 EV will be priced similarly to the Punch EV does not mean it will only compete with the Punch EV and not Nexon EV.

Pricing depends on the market conditions for the EVs, which is bleak relatively compared to 2 years ago. Tata priced the original Nexon EV (30 kWh) and the new Currv EV well but the rest of all their EVs (Nexon EV Max, Nexon EV facelift, Tiago EV, Punch EV) are way overpriced. They thought they could get away with more fancy features at higher prices without improving the most important aspects like range and charging speeds. No wonder, their EV sales are declining despite having 4 models compared to only one model 2 years back.

Currv EV with decent pricing addresses most of these concerns (bigger batteries/range, faster charging speeds). Currv EV cannibalizes the Nexon EV to a great extent. It may also impact Punch EV to some extent. But I don't think it will expand the EV market much. Tata has to reduce the prices of their Tiago, Punch and Nexon EVs by 2-3 lakhs. They need to get rid of the small battery variants and reduce the prices of bigger battery variants by 2-3 lakhs. Prices should be.

Tiago EV (LR 25 kWh): Rs 7 lakhs to Rs 9 lakhs.
Punch EV (LR 35 kWh): Rs 11 lakhs to Rs 14 lakhs.
Nexon EV (LR 40 kWh): Rs 14 lakhs to Rs 17 lakhs.

Tata EVs have lost their popularity due to the absurd pricing of new models and reliability issues. Sadly, this also impacted the overall EV sales. Mahindra also needs to reduce the prices of their EVs at the earliest or may be with the launch of 3X0 EV.

3X0 EV: Rs 13 lakh to Rs 14 lakhs.
XUV 400: Rs 14 lakhs to Rs 16 lakhs.

All this depends on the MG's pricing of their Windsor EV. Hopefully, they price it very competitively.

Quite rightly put. TATA talked in detail about the price parity of an EV with an equivalent petrol AT. Going by their own words, the above should be the price of their older EV's compared to Petrol automatics.

I even dare to say that they should be lower than the petrol ATs just because all their ATs so far are just AMTs.

Hopefully Tata will find this out sooner than later and not loose market share anymore.

Re: Mahindra XUV 3XO EV spotted testing

I am still not able to wrap my head around the fact that 3XO and 400 are 90% same car except for the oddly chopped boot! If they can put the smaller LFP battery on 3XO to reduce pricing by 2-3L then can’t they fit the smaller LFP battery on the 400 and achieve same pricing!

Another wild thought I have is they have exhausted Ssangyong Tivoli aka 400 body panels laying around the factory and need to switch to 300 aka 3XO body panels stamped fresh off the press shop.
