Ford Mustang Mach-E travels 915 km in 1 charge; New Guinness record for production EV

The Ford Mustang Mach-E has, according to reports, created a new Guinness World Record for the longest driving distance on a single charge by a production EV. The Mustang Mach-E successfully completed a 569-mile (915. 717 km) journey on a single charge.

The EV was driven by a pair of hypermiling expert drivers in England, Kevin Booker and Sam Clark. The record-setting Mustang Mach-E came with a 91 kWh extended-range battery paired with a single rear-mounted motor. This model has an official range of 320 miles (515 km), meaning the EV drove a whopping 78% farther than it intended.

The drive was extensively recorded and the EV was driven on public roads, hence the trip was recognised by the Guinness World Records. The Mustang though sits below the Mercedes-Benz EQXX which drove 747 miles (1202 km) on a single charge in 2022. However, the EQXX is a concept featuring meticulous aerodynamic elements to optimise its range, unlike the off-the-production line Mustang Mach-E.

Reports also state that the Mach-E travelled a total of 21 miles (33 km) while the car displayed 0% charge in its batteries.
