re: Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh

Liked the Presentation.
No unnecessary fillers and to the point.
Tata has put almost every feature think able in Curvv ev. It's a love or hate design. I love it because it brings in a new segment in our car space. If priced right this will be a smashing hit in Ev space. A real world range of 400kms is very good for outstation trips.

By the way if I was in market to buy a car in this price range this will be on top of my list. Got tiago ev 10 days back and I am already a convert from ICE to Ev.

Edit- Priced decent in my opinion.

re: Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh

Tata Curvv EV starts at 17.49 Lakhs.

- Bookings on 12th Aug (at dealerships)
- ICE variant prices on 2nd Sept.

The Curvv EV gets two battery pack options: a 40.5kWh unit for the Creative, Accomplished and Accomplished+ variants, and a 55kWh one for the Accomplished, Accomplished+ S, Empowered+, and Empowered+ A variants. The former has an MIDC range of 502km, while the latter can go 585km on a single charge. Tata claims that its own C75 standard of testing (which is closer to a real world figure) will see the long range model go 400-425km on a single charge, while the 45kWh Curvv EV has a C75 range of 330-350km. For reference, the MG ZS EV's 50.3kWh unit has an ARAI-rated 461km.

All variants get a 167hp electric motor mounted on the front axle. It is said to help the Curvv EV sprint from 0-100kph in 8.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 160kph. Tata claims that the battery can get up to 150km worth of charge in just 15 minutes, and 10-80 percent charge in 40 minutes, on a 70kW charger. The iRA app is said to have an intergated charge point and the model comes with vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle to vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities.

Tata also claims a 50:50 front to rear weight distribution, a 190mm ground clearance and 450mm water wading depth for the Curvv EV.

- For now, the Curvv EV only takes on the MG ZS EV directly. However, prices do overlap with the Nexon EV (Rs 14.49-19.49 lakh) and the Mahindra XUV400 (Rs 15.49-17.69 lakh).

Tata Motors reveals new Atlas platform for future cars, SUVs

Will underpin future EV and ICE models
Sierra SUV will be based on Atlas platform
- The platform will be able to cater models from 3.9 to 4.6 meters in length. It supports multiple body styles that include SUVs, coupe SUVs, sedans and hatchbacks.

-The new Tata ATLAS platform will help the brand expand the addressable market from 53% at present to 65% after the launch

-Apart from the Curvv EV SUV that went on sale today, the upcoming Sierra SUV will also be based on the ATLAS architecture.

-The Nexon compact SUV in future may also move on this platform.

Bang on pricing! It's sure going to cannibalise Nexon.ev

Pretty excited if it is an all new engine or if tuned for higher than the existing engine.

Though not going to read much into the engine renaming. diesel, turbo, TDI, turbomax, Dicor, CR4 are some names that I remember for the 1.4l engine that came in the Indica/Indigo when it was given incremental improvements like turbo and common rail injection.

If they plonked this in the Tiago, or atleast in the next gen Tiago, it would be one sweet warm chuckable hatchback. Alas, TATA may find it easier to put a faster EV powertrain in the Tiago.EV for sportiness

Not sure if that's the case. Firstly, everyone knew the Curvv was an EV launch first and some time to go before the ICE variants come to the market.

But primarily, the differing packaging of both cars reflects their distinct target markets and objectives. Tata aims to capture a significant share of the lucrative Creta segment in India, currently led by Korean brands with impressive monthly volumes of over 20,000+ units. The company's strategy focuses on differentiation and providing enhanced premium features with the Curvv. In contrast, Citroen is taking a cautious approach as it enters the Indian car market, seeking to boost its modest monthly sales of a few hundred units by offering a competitively priced vehicle that appeals to budget-conscious consumers in the lower segments.

Re: Curvv.EV launched at a price of Rs. 17.49 lakh

Pricing is such that they really only want to sell creative 45 and rest 55kw cars.

re: Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh

Is Tata trying to gauge market interest and then decide on ICE Curvv pricing? And has teambhp been invited for drives yet?

Overall, There are many things TATA has tried to do new with the Curvv, introduced new ground up architecture (ATLAS), new engine options with multiple gearbox , competitive pricing to match the ICE options by competitors for the EV, introducing a new design style in the popular 4.3m segment.

I feel Curvv has the potential to create a better image for Tata as this is not a retro fit car neither a borrowed architecture. Hopeful performance is great as well.

re: Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh

Nexon EV MR Creative Plus is 14.5 lakhs ex showroom

That is, 2 lakhs cheaper than Curvv EV 45

Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh-screenshot_20240807133224-1.png

Comparing the Nexon EV and Nexon 1.5 turbo diesel, the latter is a little over a lakh more expensive than the EV, for the same variant.

If we had to see the same trend with Curvv EV 45 and Curvv 1.5 Kryojet, it puts the diesel Curvv Creative Plus(pretty loaded variant) at 19L on road ball park.

Decent pricing, if it happens.

I don't understand why Tata has to play hide and seek with ICE prices like this. They should have revealed it today.

The Curvv was initially said to be launched as an EV first, but when the last concept was unveiled, it was said that the diesel will be launched first, with no news of the petrol.

Basalt was initially said to be a Honda City competitor, but in a high riding form.
