Future Audi EVs developed for the Chinese market might not feature its four-ring logo

According to media reports, the new series of electric cars from Audi developed in China for their local market will not be wearing the brand's four-ring logo.

The report states that this is due to "brand image consideration", given how it uses the automotive architecture co-developed by its Chinese partner SAIC as well as its increased reliance on local suppliers & technology. The new series, codenamed "Purple", will instead either have a different logo or will just feature "Audi" lettering on the vehicles.

A concept version of the upcoming electric car series is expected to be unveiled in November this year. Audi's Chinese partner SAIC stated that the EVs will be "true Audi with authentic Audi DNA." Reports also suggest that a total of nine models are in the works, all to be unveiled by 2030.

The new EV series will make use of CATL batteries, while its ADAS tech will come from a Chinese startup, called Momenta. The "Purple" series will also be based on the same platform as IM Motors - another brand of SAIC.

Reports though did confirm that the current lineup of EVs which Audi sells in China, will continue to feature its four-ring logo.
