Tesla Model S Plaid creates new record with an 8.56 seconds quarter-mile sprint According to media reports, the Tesla Model S Plaid has achieved a new quarter-mile record with a time of 8.56 seconds.
The quarter-mile sprint was done by DragTimes who shared the stats and the video on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The video shows the Model S Plaid on a drag strip, sprinting to a top speed of 162 mph while attaining the quarter-mile time.
Having said that, the video also shows the Model S Plaid completely stripped out in order to help it lose weight. The video shows the entire front dash removed, while the sprint itself, takes place on a prepared drag strip, helping the Tesla achieve better timing.
However, the quarter-mile timing of the $90,000 4-door electric sedan is still impressive, considering its main rivals are over $2 million priced hypercars.
