Re: MG lines up two new models for India; including an EV

Is this a 5 seater or 7 seater? I'm a bit confused reading the thread link and volkman10's post above. At 4.3m a 3 row MPV would not have luggage space left. Wuling also has a broken lorem ipsum page for the Cloud EV perhaps someone will fix it.

Re: MG lines up two new models for India; including an EV

Why bother with this and not bring the MG4 instead?

As per the Wikipedia page
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baojun_Yunduo

This is 4295mm in length, that's roughly the same as the MG4 (4287mm)
The width is 1850mm, roughly same as MG4 (1836mm)
The wheelbase is identical on both at 2700mm (same as a Honda Civic/Toyota Altis)..
And yes, both of them are 2-row 5-seaters.

The biggest difference between the two is the height (Cloud EV is substantially taller by about 14cm) and the MG4 is substantially more powerful with the least powerful MG4 outputting 30hp more than the most powerful Cloud EV.

The story is similar for battery capacity as well. The biggest battery on the Cloud EV is the same as the smallest one on the MG4.

And when it comes to looks, this looks like a fat cow (no offends) while the MG4 looks like a downsized Lamborghini.

Cloud EV is just not aspirational enough (at least for me). Gives it very little chance of success.

I’m so miffed too. I absolutely hate how it looks. As I stated before why not the MG4 when Nepal and Pak gets it.

Re: MG's expected product range after the JSW-MG JV

MG Cloud EV likely to be priced under Rs 20 lakh.

Cloud EV will sit below the MG ZS EV in the brand’s line-up; gets a born-EV platform.

Quote:
The Cloud EV is slightly smaller than traditional MPVs like the Maruti Ertiga and Kia Carens in India, but should find itself in a unique position for being the only all-electric model in its class until the Kia Carens EV arrives here in the second half of 2025.

Re: MG's expected product range after the JSW-MG JV

I feel some MG's upcoming models needs a design change, their design is too roundish or not that edgy to begin with. Some of these I feel are not that high on desirability quotient look wise.

Having said that I would also say Maxus and EHs models really look good. So lets wait and watch.

According to a media report, the MG Cloud EV will be the brand’s most premium electric offering yet. This means that it will be positioned above the ZS EV.

The MG Cloud EV is a four-door crossover measuring 4,295 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,652 mm in height. It can seat up to 5 people.

The Cloud EV has a high roofline and flush-fitting door handles. It features an LED light bar up front and headlamps positioned in separate pods, while the rear features L-shaped LED taillights connected by an LED light bar. Inside, the Cloud EV gets an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a floating touchscreen. It is also expected to offer features such as Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, connected car tech and a sunroof.

MG hasn’t disclosed the technical details of the India-spec Cloud EV. However, it is expected to be powered by a 50.6 kWh battery pack, offering a range of up to 460 km.

The MG Cloud

The MG Yep Plus

Don't really know how much of it is true but read it online on a different automotive portal that MG is planning on launching the above two in India. Thought of sharing their videos here for everyone to take a sneak peek.

Joke 1 - This is a supposedly a Born EV platform
Joke 2 - This makes more sense than the MG4
Joke 3 - This is more premium than the ZSEV

I doubt it. The car's design reminds me of the ugly Fiat Multipla. The design will be enough to put most people off MG Cloud compared to the SUV-ish ZS EV.

The best approach to achieve high sales numbers with the MG Cloud is to position it as an urban family friendly electric mini-innova. The practical-minded car buyer it can target is unlikely to pay a huge premium for it. It'll have to sit closer to 15L than 20L. If MG can introduce an adequately equipped base version around 14- 15L, it'll be better. But no cheap looking interiors please - that does not work in India, as repeated mistakes by other carmakers have shown. MG can do a smaller battery pack like 42-45KWH, and keep the larger 50KWH in a long-distance variant.

MG will still need marketing that can somehow make it at least a little bit aspirational. They can attribute the looks to being gifted to planet Earth by ET or Jadoo! May be even do a movie tie-up
