Re: MG Cloud spotted testing in India. EDIT: Named Windsor

I have always been a huge fan of the monobox design cars. Be in Renault espace, Daewoo Matiz, OG Honda Jazz. Even the Suzuki MR Wagon (I am not calling it the Zen Estilo because i think that name association made us all hate that completely practical car).

So am i the only one who likes this design of cars? I think there is room in this world for such space efficient designs.

The first thing that came to my mind when i saw this was the GM Hy-Wire concept.

Re: MG Cloud spotted testing in India. EDIT: Named Windsor

This is the car to wait for in India today. It certainly is going to give the Tata Nexon a run for its battery and motor (could not find a better mix of metaphors) If the MG can price this sanely, it's going to be a winner. Having said that, the sparsely populated service network of MG is a real let-down. However, I really hope this car is going to be the precursor of affordable and niggle-free EVs in India.

Re: MG Cloud spotted testing in India. EDIT: Named Windsor

Windsor is essentially a rebadged version of the Wuling Cloud EV.

From above video, the front seat is almost reclined fully flat.

Looks impressive though. And is this really going to slot below ZS ?

Only thing to complain is that Fiat Multipla-ish bump at the front.

If they can some how close that step-up design on the bonnet via an accessory and make it more seamless it would give a nice Van vibe and carve out a niche.

I cannot believe this, full glass roof and especially in a country like ours which has now started having extreme summers. Good luck with heat to the people buying it as the all glass roof will surely compromise the A/C cooling in the car.

Re: MG Cloud spotted testing in India. EDIT: Named Windsor

Lol. I'm nothing against the offering but I'm dumfounded at the pracitcal use of it and that it wows and attracts people to the car (first, Thar's Skyroof and now this).

Probably we might be going back towards roofless cars or open cars with the roof as an option (pay more for a roof, yeah!)

I don't think the Multipla-esque front end would look nice on the road. Could be a potential turn off.

I thought I liked the design but once you hear the word "Multipla", you cant unhear it !!!

But more seriously, the biggest demerit (to me, at least), is the absence of a spare wheel. I salute the brave folks who buy cars without a spare wheel (Comet, Punch EV to name two..) and operate them nonchalently on our amazing roads. Alas I lack the same sense of adventure ... I remember one time, the regulations (apparently) forced Audi to provide a jankily fitted spare in its Q7. From there to now, has our roads become so much better, law and order so much safer for so many John Doe to risk sidewall puncher etc on dark roads?

If the Indonesian videos turn out to be incorrect vis-a-vis the Indian trim and this indeed comes with an option (at least) for a space saver spare wheel, I will be its biggest supporter. Hell, I might even try and forget the word "Multipla"

Re: MG Cloud spotted testing in India. EDIT: Named Windsor

At this point I'm not sure which missing curtain is the bigger deal-breaker: the airbags or the shade for the roof.

EDIT: there seems to be a curtain airbag label on the B pillar as opposed to reports that say 4 airbags.

Ah there are too many deal breakers, shame because I liked this quirky mini beluga whale but now not sure.

Dangerously low set headlamps which can break with a nudge to the bumpers, glass roof without a curtain, absence of six airbags, absence of spare tire.
