What a waste of opportunity here ? Why not start with a bang, go all out with all options at once.

Not for those who are looking forward to it as part of a nice package. I would rather want them to reserve such features for higher variants instead of skipping them all together, obviously with whatever additional premium they think is reasonable. I don't think there is any dearth of takers at any price point in it's range up to 25L.

By the way, does anyone has any idea about the kind of build quality, crash rating expected from this car?

Re: MG Cloud spotted testing in India. EDIT: Named Windsor

I expect the three variants to be launched soon to have the following price points.

Base at 15.5 lacs.

Mid variant at 17.5 lacs.

Top variant at 19 lacs.

Let's wait and see soon.

Re: MG Cloud spotted testing in India. EDIT: Named Windsor

If we are guessing the pricing, then for 38 kwh, I am hoping it would be square against Nexon & XUV400.

Base: 14L (gets 10-inch screen, 17-steelies with covers, fabric seats)

Mid: 15.5L (leather seating, 15-inch screen etc)

Top: 17L (glass roof, power seats, 18-inch alloys etc)

I'm more inclined to believe the 12.5-15.5 range that V3 cars predicts. Makes sense, as the battery capacity-wise they will be competing with Punch.ev LR and Nexon.ev MR.

Given the fact that Tata dropped Punch and Nexon base prices to 9.99 lakhs and 12.49 lakhs respectively. It will be very difficult for MG to competitively price Windsor. I hope they have done their homework right. They have already missed the half of the bus by deciding to not launch the 50 KW version.

No one is buying those 9.99 and 12.49 cars honestly! The game really starts at Punch LR (35 kwh) and Nexon LR (40 kwh) which the Windsor (38 kwh) should be honestly compared with. Nexon MR is just 30kwh and I would not personally compare it with Windsor. Further, we know Tata cars cannot be taken below 10-20% without fear of HV critical alert while I have personally taken MG ZS EV till 0% one time and the car still had reserve capacity. In that sense, Windsor has more usable capacity than even Nexon LR.

Punch LR - 13L - 15.5L before discounts or 12L to 14.5L after discounts.

Nexon LR - 17L - 19.3L before discounts or 14L to 16.3L after discounts.

In this comparison, I think 14L to 17.5L is a very fair price for Windsor.

Windsor is based on a pure EV platform while the ones from Tata aren't. Guess that counts too. Punch is cramped at the rear while the Windsor is spacious. I think as long as MG doesn't get too greedy they can carve out some space for themselves.

Hi, I still believe that Windsor EV (38kWh) will be launched at 13.99 lacs to 16.99 lacs (without ADAS versions). MG will see the market response for Windsor EV and then launch 50kWh variant with price starting 18.99 lacs till 23.99 lacs and discontinue MG ZS EV (around March 2025).

Re: MG Cloud spotted testing in India. EDIT: Named Windsor

It's quite possible that MG Motor may price the Windsor EV quite aggressively.

This may positively impact the IC engine car buyers looking for an automatic vehicle as there would be more options.

This could create the 'Maruti moment' which Sajjan Jindal is looking for.

Yes, this price range for Windsor makes sense if the battery is limited to as little as 37-38KWH. The larger size and weight of Windsor means the real driving range might be less than the Punch LR 35KWH.

Could the Tata.ev price cuts be triggered by advance information or expectations on MG's pricing strategy? This is the price sensitive entry end of the EV market. Tata Motors may be trying to put some distance between Punch.ev and Windsor, and start the Nexon around the same expected 12.5L for Windsor. The price cut will bring Punch LR Adventure to ~11.79-11.99. (exact pricing is not yet visible on Tata ev website).

Anyway, we will know tomorrow.

A well informed insider tells me that the pricing will be between 13L and 22L (ex showroom) 2 capacity of batteries will be released with range 360 KMs and 460 KMs. Considering the price cuts by Tata Motors today, MG may hold releasing the pricing tomorrow. Rework and come back more aggressively. At the end of the day, we consumers would be the winners in this pricing battle.
