Do we really need these big screens? I think it will distract the driver and create a blind spot.

What next? put a 21" T.V. instead.

Good to have those physical buttons for AC controls.

I am not sure if Windsor would be coming up with DJI Autonomous kit but it looks pretty impressive to me on the Chinese version of this car.

I hope MG India also adds some provision for a spare tire, at least a space saver one. Most of the roads in the country are still too unpredictable and poor quality to risk long travels (and night drives by female family members) with just a single tire and a puncture repair kit

Why not just make the whole windscreen touch enabled and be done with it.

More than the Innova, the car is basically an EV Carens. I think that Kia's better brand reputation and the continued dominance of ICE will keep Kia firmly ahead of the game though.

Eh not really though. The Carens is much larger and can seat 6/7 people.

It's actually closer to the Ertiga in size but with a much longer wheelbase. As many in the forum have said before, I think of it as a spiritual successor to the Honda Jazz

Re: MG Cloud spotted testing in India. EDIT: Named Windsor

The headlights being all the way right up in the front sitting flush with the bumpers gives me anxiety, a slight miscalculation or a small bang might have you spending a lot more on replacing the entire unit. They might sell a bumper accessory for it,

But nonetheless, since it is BEV, i hope under-thigh support will be better than the ZS EV.

Safety is also a point of contention considering how minimal the crumple zone seems to be, do you think they will run GNCAP on it? i couldn't find any safety info on the Wuling Cloud as well.

Re: MG Cloud spotted testing in India. EDIT: Named Windsor

The oversized screen shouts 'Chinese'! Remember the pre-android/iphone days when there was a huge onslaught of chinese phones with gigantic screens against the humble and cute, realistic sized Nokias.. The screen is so huge that it is drawing attention away from another pain point, the puny cluster screen. Its way too small and looks out of proportion for a 4m+ car.

And then everyone realised that the large chinese phones with large screens are better than small screens with qwerty keyboard from Nokia. Nokia and smartphones with keyboards became obsolete in the consumer handheld market, and with every new product, smartphones are getting bigger. I expect similar things to happen in cars. You cannot find any car now in luxury segment without a large screen. And it will flow down to mass market cars soon, if not already done. I, for one, like the larger screens. Provides lots of real estate for android auto and other things. Just that the physical buttons for some essentials should not be taken away, which they seem to have listened to as per the new teaser.

It sort of looks like a BYD Atto 3 front DRLs sitting on top of a WagonR's headlights.

Once you get past this notion, I think it kind of looks good.

The larger screen on a phone makes sense, because that's the way one has to interact with the phone. It will not divert the user from the other core functions of the phone like calls. But a screen is one of the features of the car, and it can divert the user from the core functionality, i.e., driving. But again, UX is very subjective. What is great for one person might be an inconvenience for another. I'd be happy as long as it doesn't obstruct the driver's view, and the screen UI is not too flashy that it disturbs the driver.

On phones, larger screens and other updates HAVE distracted users from the erstwhile core function of calling, and all of us use our phones now for much more than making calls. Similarly, cars are evolving now. This can especially be seen in electric cars. Many of them now offer V2L capabilities, including Windsor, indicating the use as not only driving machines, but batteries or even generators. Tata EVs offer netflix and hotstar apps on their screens, indicating the use as entertainment centers and not only driving machines. MG has tied up with Jio to put not only steaming services but Jio games on its cars. I think there is a resistance to change in most enthusiasts, and I like the way manufacturers are now pushing boundaries to think of new features to give on cars. I agree with you that anything new should not impact safety, and that is why I dislike pure touchscreen buttons which also I think will be mitigated by voice controls sometime in the future. But assuming these new things don't compromise on safety, I'd love to see manufacturers bring new features with every new product.

Agree With you. With technology evolving way faster now it's right time for cars also to upgrade.

Re: MG Cloud spotted testing in India. EDIT: Named Windsor

MG Windsor EV will not get ADAS.

MG Windsor will have a 604-litre boot space. In the variants, which get the subwoofer, the boot space will be 579 litres. This is most likely the boot space when filled up to the roof, since the Baojun Yunduo or Wuling Cloud EV specify boot space as 382 litres.

In the Indian market, MG have chosen to offer a 37.9kWh battery pack for the Windsor EV. This version has a claimed range of 360km on CLTC (Chinese test cycle/China Light-duty Test Cycle).

I knew the battery capacity well in advance, thanks to my internal sources. This is a missed opportunity by MG to not get the 50 KWh version to India. A battery smaller than Nexon EV if priced any more than 17.5 lakhs ex-showroom will be a non starter.

For the range estimation, it is always good to assume that one will get 7km/kwh blended AEC which imputes 0-100% range of around 270kms
