Re: Current EV owners, will your next car also be an EV? (Poll for EV owners only!)

Proper study done by using S&P Global Mobility Data - which takes into account car registration details in every US state from 1 January 2023 to 19 February 2024

The survey tracked 60,022 Teslas disposed (either through trade-ins or sales) during the above mentioned time period. As per the data, 81 percent buyers bought an EV again out of those 70.4 percent bought a Tesla again. Only 5.4 percent chose Hybrids (Plugin or Strong)

The article also quotes a Bloomberg survey from April 2024, the survey showed that Tesla had a brand retention of 87% vs 54% for a brand like Toyota

Excerpt from the article
Quote:
The S&P Global Mobility data – which takes into account car registration details in every US state from 1 January 2023 to 19 February 2024 – found that of the 60,022 Teslas "disposed" either through trade-ins or sales, 42,244 (70.4 per cent) were replaced by new Tesla models.

Meanwhile, 6385 (10.6 per cent) owners swapped their Teslas with another unspecified electric vehicle (EV) model, 8103 (13.5 per cent) reverted back to petrol and diesel-powered cars, and 3290 (5.4 per cent) opted for hybrids (plug-ins and fully hybrid models included).
