Quite risky to target luxury EV market with no real product (XUV400 is ICE converted to EV with less efficiency than other products) in the mass segment to build confidence in the brand.
The Luxury EV market in India is very thin which might not even cover the cost of the development. Look at the sales of Ionic 5 and Kia EV6 (less than 50 per month).

Mahindra should 1st target in 20-24L bracket segment in my opinion, prove product, build brand and then move to higher tier segment.

XUV.e9 does not seem to have 7-seater version, instead look more coupe shaped.

There is an ample number of users who require 7-seater car specifically in NCR and famous NGT ban pushes them to have petrol instead of diesel, which generally are not good efficient cars (exception is hycross , but it is 7-8 lakh rs more than xuv , so not it can justify km ridden financials)

XUV.e8 was more suited launch to start with for mahindra , but who knows mahindra is surprising us from last few years with the product / price combination.

The naming is weird. How many "e" do they want? They should have gone with BE 05/06 and XUV e9 or XEV 09 (in line with the BE series). But I am happy to see born EVs by Indian OEMs. They sure are showcasing this way too early if they will be released in late 2025. Compared to TATA I have more faith in Mahindra, just that they need to have a tight grip on quality.

I think that's because they want BE 6e to sound like "Be sexy". Indigo does the same with 6E series - "Hello 6E".

Very exciting. If Mahindra has planned these products for a global launch, they will likely be super competent products - enginereed for developed markets, 5 stars ENCAP compliant etc.

Others forums at T-bhp seem to indicate that BE 6E will compete with Curvv. How would that work with a ~INR 35L price tag?

Cause the BE 05 was said to start from 20 lakhs. All of a sudden approx pricing is now given as 35 lakhs.

The 9E earlier showcased as BE09 could be 35 lacs, it’s larger in size compared to XUV 700. It may have a large battery pack.

The BE05 (now 6E) should be cheaper and below 25-30 lacs.

Will be interesting to see the battery pack sizes for these 2 vehicles. I think the BE05 will compete with the ZS, EVX, Atto 3 and the BE09 if priced at 35 could have a space of it’s own as there is no worthy EV between 30 and 45 lacs.

I am not believing 35L price here even for XEV 9e. And if they really price it that high, I would expect big price drop/discount by the end of the year of the launch. BE 6e has to start below 20L to make it lucrative.

My guess is that BE 6e base variant starts from 18L and XEV 9e starts from 25L.

Can someone shed some light on why this coupe SUV craze is taking over every manufacturer?

I can list a few problems with it but cannot think of a single advantage. Am I being thick? Is there a reason why manufacturers are going after this design?
