re: Mahindra XUV.e9 electric SUV spied. EDIT: XEV 9e Launched @ Rs. 21.90 lakh; BE 6e @ Rs. 18.90 lakh

Can some one give a TLDR on what is the difference between 6e and 9e?

Also MG please return my booking money. No way am I buying a Windsor now.

First time I will be making one of those unofficial bookings before a booking even starts.

I have an XUV 700 which is a phenomenal vehicle by itself and oh my god am I excited to get a serious electric car from the same brand. Exciting times we live in.

re: Mahindra XUV.e9 electric SUV spied. EDIT: XEV 9e Launched @ Rs. 21.90 lakh; BE 6e @ Rs. 18.90 lakh

Even considering a additional 50K for the home charger and installation, this is killer pricing. Task is now cut out for Tata for the next 3 months, if they want to keep the dominance:
- Revise the Curvv EV prices
- Launch Harrier EV at 21 Lakhs range

6E and 9E are basically the same car. The 9E is supposed to be bigger, more comfortable car while the 6E is the smaller and sportier car. The physical differences are the design and the 3 screens in 9E v/s 2 screens in 6E. Also since the platform is the same, the space inside the cabin is also exactly the same. The extra space in 9E is going towards boot and frunk.

From feature, drivetrain, battery tech, safety etc etc both are exactly the same.

Other difference is that the 6E was rumoured to get a dual motor AWD variant while 9E is supposed to be 2WD single motor only, but today we didn't get any indication of that, so that rumor was probably wrong.

I don't think even that will cut it. The Curvv and the supposed Harrier are still ICE converted cars and are not built on a proper high voltage EV architecture. The curvv even has a massive transmission tunnel on the floor, which I suppose the harrier will have too.

Tata needs to accelerate their born EV platform (Avinya) ASAP. These half-baked ICE->EV converts won't work when you have born electric cars like Windsor at the lower end and Mahindra and BYD at the higher end.

Here's what I understood from the posts so far.

9e :- evolution of XUV7OO styling in coupe SUV body style, slightly larger dimensions. Apparently it's comfort oriented, inferred from the tagline, "Unlimit Luxury".

6e :- radical styling, smaller in size, this one might be sportier of the two since it's tagline was "Unlimit Performance".

Both are built on the INGLO platform and are Coupe SUVs.

Everyone, please hold your horses. We have four more months before the first car is delivered. Mahindra is yet to prove its success in the EV segment. I would be happy if they did smash all the competition. But it's not just about money when it comes to the EV segment.

And what is the other thread about a 5e? Is that a different car?

And thank you very much for the details.

So 6e and e9 main difference is extra length and added features? Got it!

I know I am excited but there are proportionally fewer XUV400 niggles threads than other main Indian EV competition.

I believe people didnt pick up 400 as EV buyers are maybe generally more aware about what they want to buy and more educated about pros and cons w.r.t battery chemistry.

RIP to the yet to arrive Creta EV.

Tata is gone, they don't have a BORN vehicle, even the Sierra comes with IC engine, so it would be a design compromise.

MG will start getting Baojun, Wuling and native MG vehicles of the parent SAIC. They have vehicles with all sizes and battery options to match Mahindra. SAIC vehicles have very little niggles.

MG BORN only vehicles worldwide are now getting a life time warranty. So the same will be arriving here.

That 9E DRLs look like the moustache of Paul Teutul (American Chopper). Even in the pictures those DRLs have so much scatter, dispersion, diffraction that I can't 'unsee' them now.

Overall the design is edgy, as someone said spacecrafty like. And why do they look like on stilts and boxy. Even the curvv has that design but this one hit it out of the park.

re: Mahindra XUV.e9 electric SUV spied. EDIT: XEV 9e Launched @ Rs. 21.90 lakh; BE 6e @ Rs. 18.90 lakh

Looks like Pack 1 is the base variant with just 6 speakers, no ADAS, wheel covers and 59 Kwh battery pack. Top end ex-showroom may span up to be 10 Lakhs or even more than the base version, looking at XUV700 pricing. So my guess is that top end ex-showroom will exceed 29 Lakhs for BE 6E and 34 lakhs for XEV 9E.

Mahindra has played it smart by sharing only the base variant prices.

I believe you mean the BE05. Yes, that was the original name of the BE-6E but they changed it a few weeks ago to sound like 'be sexy'.

Pretty much, yes. There are no extra features in the 9E. Just the bigger boot, frunk and third screen. Rest everything is identical.

Please don't take ICE version differences to translate into EV.

* EVs have just 5% GST v/s 50% (GST + cess) on ICE cars like XUV700. So if features cost X rupees, the XUV700 will cost 1.5X difference whereas for EV it'll pretty much be X

* Base variant of these cars come with most of the equipment. They come with all connected car features and a lot of features v/s barebones base variants of ICE cars. I believe the base variants of these cars are around what AX5 variant of XUV700 is.

You can look at other EVs and see how little the price difference is there between base and top variants(Windsor, Curvv). The 5% GST and loaded base variants do wonders.

re: Mahindra XUV.e9 electric SUV spied. EDIT: XEV 9e Launched @ Rs. 21.90 lakh; BE 6e @ Rs. 18.90 lakh

Superb pricing and range.

But the design is overdone. Why EVs should look as if it is from another planet? Atleast for the XEV 9E, they could have kept the XUV 700 design intact. Now, both 6E and 9E are looking almost similar in shape albeit having difference in size.

Because of this polarizing design, other EVs can still survive. They are not gone yet. The more "Earthly designed" eVitara is still my choice in terms of design.

They say it is the "Blade technology" battery. So it must be coming from BYD.

BE 6E looks way better than 9E to me. Looks like media will be allowed to drive from tomorrow ? This video mentions in the end.

Looks like price wars for upcoming ICE to EV converted cars launching next year.
