One of my rear cont’s has a record 7 puncture patches in one and 4 in the other. I personally will never go for Continental tyres again even the slightest objects seems to get thru. So far the Seal has been a joy and a nightmare mix but one thing is for sure BYD India does need to act quickly on this.

Speculating here but I feel EV specific tyre construction is the problem. Maybe this type of tyre is not suitable for Indian roads and can’t withstand sharp impacts.

EVs achilles heel seems to be tyres. Even my brother cries a lot about of need for constant changing of his Tesla X tyres.

Also, someone has installed 2 235/50/19 on rears in BYD seal and are happy with it. It increases side walk massively and GC by 10mm. I didn’t go with size because Circumference difference is more than 2%.

Also, 235/45/19 is going through extreme tyre trading due to supply issue and are way more expensive than other sizes. It’s due to flooding of tyre request from Seal Owners across India.

.
EV specific and especially factory fitted ones are definitely an issue. There are numerous posts and videos of Teslas factory fitted tyres having less tread than those sourced from outside. I also had my ioniq rear tyres completely worn out at 30k km which is a first for me.

I wouldn’t want to upsize 10mm as I believe then the vehicle speedo would require re-calibration something I’m sure BYD India would be not able to do.

I’m very happy with the Michelin Sport 4 245/45 r18s on my g30 and will most likely be going for the r19 of the Michelins for the Seal now that I have no other option but to change the tyre size.

Re: BYD Seal Review

With the out of the world torque and massive weight, EV tires are under constant stress, so this is inevitable.

Although the stunning design hides it elegantly, Seal is still a 2.5 tonne tank!

DELHI NCR folks

We are going for early morning drive on Sunday to MCD on Mumbai Expressway.

Start point would be from Gurgaon at 7am. Let me know if you can join for drive.

I would be leaving from noida to Gurgaon little earlier. Would be great to have few bhpians join the drive in Seal. Would be posting exact start point by tomorrow.

Please note all of these are purchased from top-byd, I have received no compensation or discount etc to share these. You can source them from other websites and portals too. I have a few more bits and pieces such as the boot mat, lower boot mat, rear seat back protector, charging port dustproof seal, puddle lights, key cover etc. If anyone is interested happy to share those but they are pretty standard.
Hi..

Could you share your experience of buying accessories from topbyd.com?

Do we have to pay any customs duty when ordered from India?

How long did they take to deliver the products?

Thank you.

The majority of things were shipped via a bulk shipping line that re-ships once the items arrive in the country and was delivered via DTDC India and was tax free and took approx 10 days. You get an email once the item arrives in country and takes a day or two after that.

The larger items such as the console cover and boot mats were sent by normal Postal service EMS that’s delivered by Indiapost and those I paid I believe 900-1000₹ per parcel as customs charges. This took slighty longer approx 14-15 days.

Re: BYD Seal Review

I have really pushed the cars boot and load capacity to the maximum over the past few days and the seat back protector and the boot mat have gone up in the list of my favourite accessories.

Also sharing some photos of the tyre change

Punctures galore on the Continental's - pretty much all the puncture guys and even the guys that changed the tyres have said they are very flimsy. Also surprising to not see foam inside - meaning BYD is sourcing the standard non-EV tyres from Continental.

I would have been happy to just buy a single tyre for the one that had 7 punctures however due to the lack of availability of the size and BYD's failure in keeping stock or ability to source fur customers, means I had to shell out 1.2 lakhs on changing all 4 to a different size for a vehicle only a few months old.

Isn't sourcing the 225/50 18 alloys & tyres of Seal dynamic variant from showroom a better option ? This size will be easier to find and way cheaper to replace than the 19 inches.

Not sure I follow how that is a better option? Buying smaller alloys and new rubber of a smaller size? Pretty sure if BYD can’t supply a single tyre they won’t be able to supply 4 new alloys and tyres either

Which tyre you finally went ahead with? Size, brand, rating ?

Went for the Pirelli P Zero 102 Y XL 245/45 R19 because the one with multiple punctures was leaking and these were readily available. So far happy with them, very very slight ground clearance increase has meant that one overly large speed breaker that used to trouble me and cause it to slightly scrape when taken straight (unavoidable sadly due to traffic at times) has now started being able to clear.

First service turned into a bit of a debacle as the person who had been messaging me and following up from BYD to book my service, booked it at a service centre 500km away in Pune despite multiple confirmations. Really feels like BYD is hiring from the B team.

Thankfully after speaking to the local Sales Manager he stepped in and booked it at Bavaria motors Goa - they performed an infotainment update which came out in July that I somehow missed. They also solved an issue with the drivers door handle sticking. I usually get the 5 series serviced there and their service team is good so not too worried about the service side at the moment. I was however charged Rs. 650 for the first service even though the bill said FREE FIRST SERVICE as the description on the billI'm guessing since they're using someone elses workshop?

I had been to the Yelahanka showroom later for test-drive, the staff were courteous but the showroom was run down like you said, the AC didn't work back in April during peak summer

However IMO, for Bangaloreans VST motors ( the other dealer) seemed to have a better team overall and a better showroom and that's where I made the purchase. They only have one showroom in Cunningham road.
The Experience made me stay away from EV's all together.
I'm very impartial towards them and I was leaning towards EV's only for the performance offered.
