Are you planning PPF or coating on your black beauty? I have also booked Cosmos black Atto3, but maintenance of the black car makes me nervous

Re: BYD Seal Review

I am going for Graphene coating with ppf on roof, lights, and some other heavy use areas. Not sold on full ppf, since I feel after 2 years, ppf looses its properties. I am willing to get car detailed every 2 months at cars spa (tyre shoppe) noida. Have bought some home wash things, like pressure washer, ceramic soap, and few other things after discussing with Cars Spa. I believe a good detail plus regular graphene maintenance (interval of 9 months) should help.

On side note, every detailing studio tries to sell ppf but I feel it’s more to do with margin. If ppf develops some issue, then it can take paint out leading to far worse outcome.

I agree and also opted for coating rather than PPF. I tend to stay clear of tyre shoppe as it isn't their core business and found them super shady to work with. I got it done from Onyxxa in Sector 60, better priced and far more detailed and easy to deal with for follow up work.

Hope you got yourself a dashcam and other accessories off TOPBYD. The mats given by landmark are substandard and the trunk mat is just cheap plastic, so looking to get them replaced soon.

Thank you for letting me know. Can you share your contact details in DM with me. I will connect with you to understand pricing, package etc.

I pressed Byd Noida a lot for dashcam. They ended up installing the same dash cam as imported by others owners from top Byd / nice Byd. I got them to install as official accessory. My mats from landmark didn’t seem substandard. I think they give me better ones. Trunk mat is definitely bad. Let’s connect and meet up. Share your details in DM if possible. I cannot send DMs since I am newbie on team bhp.

Re: BYD Seal Review

Thought I'd share a few of my favourite accessories for the Seal that I have picked up in addition to the dash cam. The dash cam really is a must have and the quality seems more impressive than the 70mai I have used previously. Also the lack of additional wiring required is a big bonus.

It's also a nice change to be able to order and have things delivered - coming from the Ioniq where virtually no accessories were readily available and even the rubber mats I had to import from the UK.

Please note all of these are purchased from top-byd, I have received no compensation or discount etc to share these. You can source them from other websites and portals too. I have a few more bits and pieces such as the boot mat, lower boot mat, rear seat back protector, charging port dustproof seal, puddle lights, key cover etc. If anyone is interested happy to share those but they are pretty standard.

Wireless charging pad silicone mat - I found my phone sliding around a bit too much on the highway which this seems to address nicely.

BYD Seal Review-img_8514.jpg

I really disliked the square RFID printing on the arm rest and had decided to get a cover fitted before the purchase of the car. Luckily I saw this as it fits perfectly and matches the stitching of the interior as well.

BYD Seal Review-img_8508.jpg

Center logo / reflection delete.. The weird skewed face reflection gets a slightly classier touch with this simple but nice felt touch logo sticker.

BYD Seal Review-img_8506.jpg

Lower space organiser - keeps the sunglasses and other bits and pieces from rolling around

BYD Seal Review-img_8513.jpg

Black center console cover - unfortrunately my original vehicle center console had a few deep scratches on it that came from either factory or imporer handling by the showroom and it was really bugging me. I had kicked up a fuss but the only solution they offered was to wait for another vehicle. This glossy black cover is a nice and simply install.

BYD Seal Review-img_8511.jpg

Air intake bug/leaf screen - a must have for me personally considering the amount of foliage in my area. Something that really should have come with the vehicle.

Re: BYD Seal Review

I somehow feel dash cam quality is average only. I want to install a back dash. Any solutions would be welcome.

How is the fitting of charging port dustproof seal?

Black center console - This seems nice. But does it result in any scratches on original console. Mainly does it result in any plastic noise which is very irritating.

Air intake bug/leaf screen - Yes, its a must have. I will also order this shortly. Will also buy cover for ac vents below seats.

Great collection of accessories purchased by you. Enjoy your ride.

Re: BYD Seal Review

Hi All
I'm a newbie, so forgive the informal nature of this post.
I took delivery of a seal on 9th Sept from Jaipur and want to put to rest some of the basic misinformation on this forum. Tyres are very much available!!
I picked up my car at 5 pm in Jaipur, and 6:30 pm I blew my front tyre (and damaged the rim) on the mumbai delhi expressway. Sadly, I wasnt the only one, by the time I pulled over, there were about a dozen cars on the side pulled over with 1 or 2 tyre blowouts, all thanks to an errant pothole in the middle lane.

Anyways, thats one part of the story. The next one is where it gets interesting. I'm 40 km out of Dausa on the mumbai expressway heading back to Delhi. I called BYD Jaipur and they immediately got RSA arranged. Within 15 minutes I got a call from BYD and they dispatched a "custodian" to watch over the car in case I wanted to leave, and offered both a taxi to delhi/ jaipur my choice, and hotel in jaipur for an overnight stay. I had a back up Gloster which went through that pothole like it would go over a frooti tetra pack, so my wife and I bundled up and left for Delhi, leaving my 90 minute old car on the side of the highway with BYD support.

BYD RSA delivered the car to BYD Noida by next afternoon and I read these forums and was petrified what lay ahead. I called BYD Jaipur and he confirmed he has a rim, but no tyres, but CAN GET A TYRE in 48 hours.

Reached BYD Noida where I met a very affable service manager, surya who told me they had tyre , rim everything in stock!!! So much for no tyres!

Within a day he had it patched up. My insurance company (TATA AIG) gave me more grief on how I filed a case within a day of insuring the car, and turns out my claim was filed before their own system recognised the payment. Either way, didnt want to deal with their incompetence so I paid about 64K out of pocket for the same Conti tyre that was on the car, rim, tpms and wheel balancing. My agent took the insurance company to task and they reimbursed me in full (minus GST since I invoiced it to my company and was going to recoup it anyways, and another 1K as deductible) within 2 days.

All in all, despite the circumstances, a pleasurable experience. Its good to know if I drive from delhi anywhere, and there is a problem BYD RSA has my back, and for 6 years at that. I spoke to the SM and he assured me parts was not a problem, and pointed out how many people were talking online about parts, but trust me, if I can get a tyre within a few hours, its basically up to the dealership how had they want to push for a customer.

I'm happy to fill in more details if anyone wants to know. BYD Jaipur was outstanding (thanks to Abhinav Khosla there with his team) and they really made the effort to get me a good deal on a black premium. everything was done on the phone till I got there to collect my car. He offerd to flat bed it, but I felt like driving, and I guess I learned my lesson that Indian highways, no matter how much they are touted are ill maintained and its more hype than truth. I drove Del- Goa in Apr earlier this year and experienced first hand the terrible shape of our highways. I'm not comparing them to the auto Bahn, but even thailand a country smaller than UP has better highways.

Ground clearance is an issue coming from a Ford endeavour, but nothing wildly different than my 520d I used to drive till a few years ago. What I will say is they have built a fantastic product and while I'm not a Chinese fan, it will always be you get what you pay for, my iPhone is Chinese and so are my 2 cars now (MG and BYD) and personally I dont see any issue. I think our Indian manufactures are way behind the curve on developing a luxury car, and competition is good for the overall eco system. Frankly I couldnt find anything better in the 45L range. I drove the Camry which felt like my grandfathers ride and between that and the BYD, this was a no brainer because it felt more personalised.

Net - dont stress it, I experienced first hand that tyres are available, your dealership should have the will to work for you. BYD Noida does. And for a spectacular deal, call BYD Jaipur, you can reference the customer who bought a car and blew a tyre within 90 minutes, they'll know.

Cheers
Sam

Welcome Sam and thanks for sharing your experience!

I don't think your solo experience quells the feeling that BYD are under prepared. They DONT have tyres in stock as they should and dealers are likely tying up with importers directly to fill the rampant tyre replacement issue.

Tyre profile is certainly an issue. Had mine cracked just last night while going over a smallish pothole and the tyre is kaput now. Called BYD Noida but they didn't have any in stock, which they seem to be sourcing from Tyre Shoppe who are importing them directly. Curious to know how much you paid just for the tyre incl. GST?

I am getting quoted 42.5+GST from tyre shoppe, which seems off compared to what BYD Noida told me. Another option is going with alternatives in non-xl (extra load) category in Pirelli (30k), some korean brand (19k) and Bridgestone (35k). XL tyres have stronger side walls and can take heavier loads, so wondering if the price differential is worth it?

I have also claimed insurance, so let's see what I end up getting. Don't mind a spare lying around if this happens again!

Hi Monaro, Sam,

I got my original tyres replaced from tyre shoppe and they had my 4 brand new tyres. I am assuming Sam got one of those EV continentals from BYD noida (under insurance). For Sam, luckily I had swapped all 4 tyres 1-2 day before his replacement request came.

I wanted to highlight this to SAM earlier, but restrained. I know for sure BYD Noida only had GoodYear tyres 235/45/19 in their stock.

There is no continental stock of 235/45/19 to my understanding with any showroom. BYD clearly told me they are unable to procure this from China and this size and type is officially not available in India except in grey market.

Seems like BYD showrooms are buying tyres from TyreShoppe etc and giving them to customers who need 1 tyre replacement.

Anyone who need more advise on Seal tyres, drop me a DM.

A quick update for Delhi NCR folks:

Some of the BYD Seal owners are planning a early Sunday (22 Sep) morning drive to MCD on Delhi Mumbai expressway. If you are interested in joining please feel free to reach out.

I am driving from Noida and meeting the gang in Gurgaon (all the other owners are from Gurgaon).

Looking forward to BHPians joining us for the ride in their beautiful Seals.

Bro XL tyres are not important as per my understanding. In China, BYD Seal is sold with SportsContact 7. See attached new article (https://www.continental.com/en/press...8-oe-byd-seal/).

These tire lines and sizes are approved for the BYD Seal in numerous countries:
SportContact 7, 235/45 R19 95Y (China only)
SportContact 7 Silent, 235/45 R19 95Y (China only)
EcoContact 6 Q, 235/45 R19 99V XL (worldwide)

What is important is tyre and weight rating. If your tyre has rating almost equal to 99V then that should be fine.

This is as per my limited knowledge. Gives me more confidence after reading official press release of Continental.

They are using 95Y which have much lower weight bearing capacity and are not marked XL.

I believe for export market, BYD is playing it safe and trying to maximize EV rolling characteristic.

Thanks a lot for writing in. This clears the air, tyre shoppe is clearly reselling your tyres then and trying make a good buck doing it.

So, what tyre & size did you change into? I am getting Pirelli P Zero Rosso 235/45 R19 for 30k, what do you think or are there other options I could explore?

Sunday meet-up sounds exciting, let me see if I can make it, shall DM you.

I dont recollect the exact break down on the bill very clearly, but I think I saw the tyre at about 32K something and was rather surprised, but I was in a rush so I didnt dwell out in. Surprise because I think it cost more than the rim.

Dont they make run flats for these?

So I read a post on a member who has an Ioniq and he talked about using a XUV700 dough nut rim and tyre as a back up for long journeys. I was contemplating the same, any thoughts on what might work? Again just thinking of an immediate fix. Personally I'd go for run flats if thy were available, as I see these have literally no protection on the sidewalls. I had a 2 inch round hole on the sidewall when the tyre exploded.

Bro, I went for Conti Sportscontact 5. 245/45/19 98Y. Since Conti is official supplier for Seal and they use Sportscontact 7, I think this should be fine.

Supposedly, 5mm ride height improvement. Also, tyres comes with 2 year cut warranty. So not dependent on insurance for only tyre replacement. I see no difference in road noise at all. No idea on grip and range delta, since I drove less than 10kms.

Please give my reference to Rohit at tyreshoppe and I am sure he can give some additional discount. No affiliation but since I was first Seal through his doors he was happy to state that any reference can get discount.

One more benefit of 245/45 is that it’s a common choice for German brands, and hence price / availability is better.

Just be sure they have the tyres in stock or can get them. I’ve been waiting for almost 3 weeks now for the Pirelli’s. The price seems fair.

I had reached out to Pirelli directly and got contacted by a Mr Rahate who seemed to be very helpful and had found a local dealer to send the tyres to. However more than two weeks later of constant follow ups and being told tyres are reaching tomorrow and pls wait let me track by this afternoon and get back to you to again not bothering to reply - it seems to be a waste of time or they’re coming via the slowest courier in India. Very surprising someone from Pirelli India would be like this.

Will be going for another brand in the 245/45 r19 as Ankitg87 has done.

I spoke to BYD store manager of Bavaria BYD Goa who has informed me they have 10 tyres on back order and BYD and Continental have no stock at all but cannot recommend nor source another brand as per directive from BYD.

One of my rear cont’s has a record 7 puncture patches in one and 4 in the other. I personally will never go for Continental tyres again even the slightest objects seems to get thru. So far the Seal has been a joy and a nightmare mix but one thing is for sure BYD India does need to act quickly on this.

Thanks buddy. No scratches for the console cover it just sits on top of the current one attached by about 10-11 pieces of very thin double sided tape on every touch point - no rattles or squeaks as that would drive me mad too.

The charging port cover is also one that should have come from the factory as I noticed that area was always wet in the monsoon as water would get in and now it’s relatively dry.

As for the underseat vent cover I didn’t go for it as this is the work vehicle so i can’t remember the last time anyone was in the back other than my bag
