Kia EV2 spied for the 1st time; Will be brand's cheapest EV priced under $15,000

As per reports, Kia is preparing to introduce several low-cost EVs in its global lineup. Kia recently unveiled the EV3, EV4 and EV5, now the carmaker is said to be working on a much smaller & affordable EV in the form of the 'EV2'.

The upcoming Kia EV2, as the name suggests, will be positioned as the brand's most affordable electric vehicle, with an estimated starting price of $14,500. Now, ahead of its unveiling, the Kia EV2 has been spied testing for the first time.

As seen from the spy video, the EV2 will feature a crossover body style. It will carry forward the brand's boxy design language seen on other models such as the EV3, EV5 and even the flagship EV9. The EV2 is also said to feature Kia's new 'Tiger Face' grille.

Production of the upcoming Kia EV2 is expected to begin sometime in 2025.

This looks like a Kia Clavis EV. Not sure what the EV2 will be positioned as, but this surely is a Clavis EV.

Its now proven that across the world, both in rich and middle-income economies, the demand is for "lower-cost" , affordable EVs. This can not come soon enough for Kia. Interestingly, it also demonstrates possibilities for Tata Motors' and Mahindra's EV offerings. The former needs to get its quality control gremlins in control, and the latter needs to just , well, start moving..
