EQS sedan facelift brings back hood ornament & faux grille for more "traditional" look

Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the 2025 EQS sedan facelift for the global market. The Mercedes-Benz EQS was first unveiled back in 2021 with a controversial pebble-shaped design to aid aerodynamic efficiency. However, with the 2025 version Mercedes-Benz has tried to bring back some of the more traditional design elements.

Starting off at the front, the 2025 EQS continues to feature a black panel, however, it now features three horizontal bars and a central vertical faux chrome bar, imitating its gas-powered models. Another highlight is the return of the hood ornament at the front of the bonnet. Other changes include updates to the bumpers - Mercedes has made its AMG line's lower bumper design standard across all variants of the 2025 EQS.

Inside, the 2025 EQS remains mostly the same, apart from a few tweaks and some additional chrome trim around the air vents. Mercedes now also offers an 'Executive Interior Package' with which rear seat occupants can now adjust their backrests even further between 27 to 36 degrees of recline. The seats also come with extra foam padding, rapid heating, neck & shoulder heating and a pair of pillows as part of the executive package.

However, the biggest change in the 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS is the battery pack. The 2025 version now features a larger 118 kWh battery pack - up from the previous 108.4 kWh. While the exact range and power figures of the updated powertrain are yet to be revealed, Mercedes-Benz does state that the 2025 EQS could offer 11% more range compared to the older version.

Pricing for the new EQS will be revealed closer to its market launch, scheduled for sometime in late 2024.

The addition of the three pointed star on the hood singlehandedly makes things so much better. The hood ornament must be standard on cars that carry the S badge.

Let’s hope the so called grille is not illuminated like BMW’s.

The grille is a huge improvement but the main problem of this car was always the stubby rear boot, awkward proportions and bloby design. They really missed the boat with the EQ series, I can't seem to think of one reason why anyone would get one over other options in the market.

I wish they gave the calf support in the rear seat like the regular S

So the fat duck got braces and now shoes after all the feedback? Still does not fix how ugly this is.

I hate it. The original grille, while still ugly, at least looked like some effort had been put into it. Meanwhile, this looks like a child just slapped some white paint on the grille .

Also, why did they not do anything to the rear? The lightbar also looks pretty bad.

While the changes done are welcome and does bring some Merc character to the car, the biggest problem the older model had was the atrocious ground clearance and the car was scraping even the smallest speed breakers even with two occupants. Have they addressed this issue which is so crucial for our country?

I wonder how difficult it would have been to actually make the grill aesthetically more pleasant instead of just a half hearted attempt.

For once now I like the earlier variant compared to this "bleh" attempt

I will never ever be able to afford this so my opinion doesn't hold much value but holy moly this is such an ugly blob.
The hood ornament doesn't make much difference.
Something is seriously wrong with Benz if they think their demographic prefers fuel economy when they're ready to spend crores over this. Just put electric motor in S class like BMW have done with their i4 and i5.
