We picked up Comet a couple of weeks back.
I would have waited if we knew these features were coming.
Well that's part of a car buying process I guess. Quite satisfied with our purchase though

Fast charging,Electronic Parking Brake, Electronic Stability Control, Rear Disc Brake, Hill-Hold Control, Creep mode.

These are some really good to have features.

I always felt that the absence of a creep mode is a huge miss on a car made for city drives.

Finally fast charging on the Comet. I am actively considering it. I think not launching with this feature was a huge miss, and one of the key reasons why so many people I know skipped this model. Both went ahead with the Tiago though they felt Tiago lacks the "zing" of the Comet.

I just hope that internally, the fast-charge option also comes with liquid cooling- else it may present a higher risk that will hold me back at least.

What comet has is the ACFC not DCFC, so no highway trips, just your regular home charging time is cut by half

Do we know if the creep mode can be activated via a software update on the Comet Plush

I see an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), but no mention of auto-hold! Once an EPB is in place, auto-hold should be simple to implement. I really hope that this "city friendly" EV gets auto-hold.

One reason I am looking keenly at Punch.EV is that the LR versions offer auto-hold. If the Comet offers the same, my preferences may turn!

Agreed, but this is too small and "tinny" a car to take on highways anyways. What the AC FC allows is to charge in public chargers that are cropping up all over the city. A 30 charge in a regular would be sufficient to go home from any part of town.

The Comet Plush already came with hill hold, so i think with hill hold here they mean auto-hold, will have to be verified though

My understanding: Hill hold holds the car still for a few seconds while auto hold holds the vehicle still till we apply accelerator. Auto hold feature is there in Astor, while it was missing even in the top of the line Comet plush variant.

Re: MG ZS EV Excite Pro variant launched at Rs 20 lakh | Comet gets fast-charging option

Apart from post#1, turns out that the ZS EV has been totally on ignored on this thread.

So lets give it some love.

To everyone wanting to buy the least expensive Creta or Seltos Automatic (the one with the 1.5l NA Petrol Engine + CVT), there is absolutely no need to get one now.

For the exact same money, you can now get the 5-Star Euro NCAP ZS EV Excite Pro which is not only faster but also has every feature that the comparable 3 Star GNCAP Creta and Seltos offer, minus the running and maintenance costs (MG is offering 3 years free maintenance on ZS EV).

MG ZS EV Excite Pro variant launched at Rs 20 lakh | Comet gets fast-charging option-whatsapp-image-20240307-14.55.04.jpeg

The example above assumes a constant downpayment of Rs.5 Lakh in all 3 cases.

The difference in EMIs is Rs.2400/month for the Seltos and Rs.3900/month for the Creta.
So the breakeven km for ZS EV is about 250-300 compared to Seltos and 400-450km compared to the Creta. All 3 in the city. To be able to drive the additional 150km on the Creta, you lose App based connectivity features that the other 2 offer.

ZS EV also happens to be the longest range and fastest DC charging sub 20 lakh (Ex Showroom) EV in India. Given the charging infrastructure that is present *right now*, ZS EV is all the car needed for this segment for all but the most extreme of use cases. Highway drives on the ZS EV will also be cheaper than the above 2 even if you charge your car at the most expensive of EV Chargers (Shell Recharge). The sandwich and coffee you have there will pay for itself while the car juices up.

We have price parity with ICE cars RIGHT NOW and the Chinese have only just arrived here! The case for EVs is only going to get better from here.

Dear MG: Official price corrections on the higher variants would also be nice. That way, the Diesel and Turbo Petrol Seltoses and Cretas will have nowhere left to hide.

At the end of the day, an EV is an EV and with current infrastructure, no one should pickup an EV if they're doing regular highway duties let alone an MG.
Also, the build quality on the new Creta and Seltos is definitely better than the previous gen. I expect them to be 5 star equivalent or at the least a 4 star. Verna was proof that Hyundai can make 5 star cars if the wanted to.
With the unknown factor of resale and the brand MG, it's a safe choice for people to buy a Creta or Seltos which will hold its value.

Sorry friend, never a good feeling to miss out on meaningful upgrades to a vehicle that you've just bought. Especially with expensive items, there's bound to be pain. My sympathies.

I do hope however that any upgrade that can be made available over-the-air should be made available (even if it's at a cost). Feels like a win-win.

Hope some manufacturers start this trend so that others may follow. Will alleviate some of the pain to early adopters.

MG already does this to early customers.

Earlier this year or last December, Comet was priced around 10.5 lakhs for Plush variant and those who bought after January its around 9.2 lakhs on road.

Now Last 2 weeks before, when i visited MG Showroom nobody told about the incoming changes to Comet. I am not sure they too not aware or they trying to sell the stocks available.
