Rumour: Ex-Skoda India director Zac Hollis to head VinFast Asia

According to a media report, Zac Hollis, who served as the brand director of Skoda Auto India, has been appointed as the head of VinFast Asia. The announcement comes ahead of the Vietnamese EV maker’s foray into the Indian market.

Zac Hollis played a crucial role in the implementation of Skoda’s 'India 2.0' strategy which saw the introduction of the Kushaq and Slavia based on the MQB A0-IN platform. While at Skoda, Hollis was known for being active on social media, which allowed him to connect directly with the customers.

In a career spanning over 2 decades, Hollis held several key positions in the automotive industry. Before joining Skoda Auto India, he was the head of sales operations for Skoda in China.

VinFast plans to invest $2 billion in India over the next 5 years. Earlier this month, the EV maker signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government to set up a manufacturing unit in the state.

Re: Rumour: Ex-Skoda India director Zac Hollis to head VinFast Asia

We need this guy back in Skoda. Back in 2019, I bought Skoda because Zac instilled confidence in the brand that there is someone who will listen to the customers, which he did. The dealers were were quick to act because whatever individual problems we had were escalated to Zac directly. The moment he left India, things started deteriorating. So much so that, even if you shoot a mail to Skoda India, they take a while to respond and ultimately transfer it to the shoulders of the dealership, who is incompetent to being with. Forget about the follow-up, there is no resolution in foreseeable future for the problems we customers face. I'm surprised how an entire organisation can become so inefficient with departure of just one person, explains how status quoist the people are at Skoda. The rogue dealers need an iron hand from the head office to run efficiently, or else the day is not far when Skoda will be where it started from.

Zac if it reaches you- Please comeback to Skoda India!

Here's a picture with the gentleman (Goa, 2022).

This was from an event where they invited existing customers to have a first hand experience of the Slavia during launch.

Re: Rumour: Ex-Skoda India director Zac Hollis to head VinFast Asia

Zac Hollis resigns from VinFast in three months.

He had joined Vietnamese car maker in January 2024 and was going to steer the globalisation initiative for the brand in Asia.

This was his second short stint at a global car company in less than two years. Sources say Hollis resigned from the company citing personal reasons.

Quote:
Hollis’ onboarding had come at a time when Vietnam’s first-ever EV company had outlined an aggressive manufacturing game plan for the India market. Apart from overseeing India's entry strategy, Hollis was to play an important role in identifying key talent for the India arm, say people in the know.
