I only hope that Maruti keep it open for other EVs as well.
Isn't this what they said when maruti tried to foray into the commercial space with the supercarry trucks.

The charger network is not growing because Tata Motors showrooms and service centers have chargers (many are not yet equipped).

The network is coming up because of the business opportunities seen by businessmen. And also EV charging is more suited near Hotels, Malls & public amenities.

The advantage Maruti has is the trust people have in OEM. If they can bring an EV many fence sitters can jump to the EV side.

That's the impact Maruti will have. Most people still blindly go in for Maruti because of the trust built over decades.
This will go a long way in bringing mass adoption of EVs.

Trust and Maruti's extensive service network are assets, however I think the FE factor cannot be overlooked either. We have often accused Maruti of giving pedestrian engines for the sake of efficiency.

I don't know how much Toyota is helping Maruti with their EV, but Toyota/Lexus EVs are not known for their efficiency. Maruti EVs may end up being the least efficient among the competition. It would be interesting to see what effect, if any, that will have on their success.

Maruti Suzuki's EV shows its interiors.

Quote:
spot the floating infotainment system that integrates into the digital instrument cluster unit. Below that, can be seen rectangular AC vents, an electronic parking brake and a rotary dial for the gear selector. The steering wheel is a two-spoke unit, which is a first for any Maruti car. Overall the interiors look production-ready.

with proper pearl-shaped LED headlamps. Overall, can expect a closed-off grille and sloping bonnet. The car looks nicely proportionate in these spy shots. Though the concept model showcased production-ready tail lamps, the test mule doesn’t sport tail lamps.

Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUV launch delayed

According to a media report, the launch of the Maruti eVX electric SUV has been delayed by a few months. The EV is now expected to go into production in February 2025.

Maruti to debut eVX electric SUV by end-2024; electric hatch by 2026-whatsapp-image-20230111-10.25.31-am.jpeg

The report states that Maruti is currently facing multiple battery supply and software challenges. While the company is trying to address the issues, it has resulted in the start of production (SOP) getting delayed by at least 5 months.

Maruti Suzuki plans to export the majority of the eVXs produced in India. It is said that almost 75-80% of the 1.5 lakh units planned will be shipped to overseas markets. However, the latest reports indicate that eVX shipments to Europe and Japan will only commence sometime next year.

Toyota also plans to introduce its version of the eVX electric SUV. Its launch is also likely to be affected by the supply chain and software issues.

Simply put they are not able to secure battery, bms and related components of good quality at competitive prices. And this because all the supply from companies like BYD, CATL is already cornered.

I don't think it is due to delay in battery cells as major agreements for components likes batteries would have been made in well advance. Also, currently there is more capacity than the demand in the EV market and based upon the future additions from different Chinese majors like CATL, BYD, SVOLT, Gotion will mean that it will be like that for many years to come. Due to higher capacity and lower demand growth, the LFP battery prices are down 50% YoY and expected to fall further in the next few months.

As per Bloomberg's BNEF, the capacity and demand numbers are like this:

Suzuki may have seen more delays in battery packaging, software problems just like any company that is developing their first EV in the world.

So far, things seem to be shaping up quite well. Although this is a pre-production special (as is proved by the wires dangling about on the centre console), they seem to have copied TaMO and made an illuminated steering wheel.

Also, did anyone else notice the odd A/C vents? The design does not sit well with me.

They look as if MSIL grabbed them straight out of a Kia Sonet. And time again we have seen MSIL taking design cues and copying from the competition.

In one of the pics, it looks a size smaller than the Venue parked adjacent. Handsome wheels, lovely steering wheel - lets see how safe it is, how its specced and how its positioned.

No, it’s note an illuminated steering wheel, there’s a shiny tape which is put on the steering wheel.
