I think the cars themselves are being built by a state owned company BAIC. Its good to see someone design a car and someone else have the manufacturing prowess to build to the requirements. So Xiaomi can keep aiming for better designs and software while they leave the hardware work to other experts.

Xiaomi SU7: 1st electric car of the brand is highlighted at the Beijing Motor Show.

Xiaomi's first car is off to a good start. The Chinese giant has already received 100,000 orders and the SU7 is among the most popular novelties at the 2024 Beijing Motor Show, which takes place between April 25 and May 4.

The Xiaomi SU7, in fact, is built on a platform with 800 Volt architecture and can be equipped with two different battery packs: a smaller one, with an as yet unspecified capacity and dedicated to the rear-wheel drive version, and a larger battery pack, of 101 kWh, dedicated to the more powerful version with all-wheel drive.

The second is supplied by the giant CATL and, according to the manufacturer's own statement, can gain 220 km of autonomy (CLTC cycle) in 5 minutes of recharging and 550 km of autonomy (CLTC cycle) with a 15-minute stop at the charging station: therefore, a fairly high recharging power.

In its final version, in the global market, the Xiaomi SU7 will be available, as planned, in two configurations, one with rear-wheel drive and the other with all-wheel drive. The latter will be the most powerful variant and will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.78 seconds and reach a top speed of 265 km/h

Second production shift at Beijing plant to meet strong demand for SU7.

Xiaomi is about to make a significant leap in the production of its first electric car, the Xiaomi SU7. According to local media reports, the tech giant will start production in two shifts at its Beijing plant starting in June. This expansion will boost the plant's capacity to nearly 20,000 units monthly.

With the implementation of the second shift, the daily hours of operation will increase from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This strategic move comes in response to the growing demand for the Xiaomi SU7, which reached a significant milestone with the delivery of the 10,000 units this Wednesday (15) - since the beginning, on April 3, the company has managed to deliver 10,000 units in just 43 days.

With construction of the second phase of the Beijing plant expected to begin in 2024 and be completed by 2025, the additional annual production capacity of 150,000 units will bring the plant's total capacity to 300,000 units, setting the stage for even more significant growth in the near future.

The most radical Xiaomi SU7 moves its tests to the Nürburgring, a brutal electric sedan that challenges the 1,000 hp of Tesla and Porsche.

Spy photos that confirm a sportier and more radical version, rival to the Tesla Model S Plaid and Porsche Taycan Turbo GT.

These interesting spy photos show a specimen with a more radical aesthetic personality, and not only because of the vinyl that dresses its bodywork, but also because of the immense spoiler that crowns the rear part held by two large manually adjustable masts, instead of the electrically retractable one that comes with Xiaomi's series production model. Important novelties to join one of the most select clubs in the electric car market with the power of hypercars.

Pirelli tires, in sizes 265/40ZR are mounted on 21-inch alloy wheels, with no notable detail other than the Bilstein name on the front license plate box. This is the key that would be behind this high-performance test of the suspension and shock absorber specialist for a higher-performance version that the manufacturer has on the agenda.

Xiaomi's electric GT already has two versions with up to 673 hp of maximum power and all-wheel drive, but the manufacturer has a more brutal and wild option in its portfolio equipped with new electric motors. Specifically, two have not yet been used, one is the "HyperEngine V8s" that develops no less than 425 kW or 663 hp and capable of turning up to 27,200 rpm and another baptized as "HyperEngine" that rotates up to a maximum of 35,000 rpm.
