Mahindra XUV400 to get Pro variants; specs & features leaked

Mahindra is gearing up to introduce the XUV400 facelift next year and it seems the electric SUV will get two new variants as well. As per the latest leak, the updated model will come in EC Pro and EL Pro variants.

The EL Pro variant will get cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM, front fog lamps, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Alexa and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a 10.25-inch instrument cluster. The electric SUV will also get a revamped dashboard and a new steering wheel.

The electric SUV will be offered with two battery options – a 34.5 kWh battery with 250 km of real-world range and a 39.4 kWh unit offering 290 km of maximum range. The EC Pro variant will get the smaller battery pack, while the EL Pro customers will be able to select between the two battery options depending on their usage.

This looks like a substantial update but where’s adjustable regen? That was one of the biggest omissions in a 20+ Lakh EV!

They have paddle-shifters for just that, right? Three levels of regen is provided. That is adjustable.

Finally one year after launching the car, they launch the variant that should have been launched on day one. This brings on par with Nexon.EV and may give it the boost it needs.

Now all that remains to be seen is the new interior which might be similar to the already spied XUV300 interior.

Are there paddle shifters? I don’t see them in the above mentioned features. ‘Lively mode’ is still present, so that means the regen implementation is the same as before right? Or am I missing something?

Just curious but do we really need more than two levels, one emulating an ICE car engine braking while other feels like hybrid/EV single pedal driving? Even Tesla has only two levels of regen (Standard and Low). I have driven MG ZS EV on a 1200 km round trip and found using the two extremes all the time. I never cared about the in-between levels.

Looks promising but what is it with using "Pro" moniker for cars, can't wait for Pro Max.

This was my initial thought too before I drove the Kona. The flexibility you get with 4 adjustable regen levels (including completely off) is just spectacular. It adds a lot of customization to one's predictive driving. For example, I am coasting on a highway with regen off, and I can see an intersection approaching. I can increase the regen levels from 0 to 1 to 2 to 3, as needed, so that I can have a smooth and effective deceleration by the time I reach the intersection. Should the car not decelerate as much as I would like, the Kona also has a left paddle pull function, which can potentially bring the car to a halt. If the intersection is safe, I can go back to 0 regen and accelerate again. It sounds like a hassle, but after the initial few days, it just comes naturally and I cannot imagine doing it any other way. It's so intuitive with the paddles, not to mention the gain in efficiency.

Possible interiors of the upcoming XUV 400 facelift? Found on r/carsindia subreddit onReddit.

If yes, this is a good leap for the interiors. Might be similar on the upcoming XUV300 facelift as well.

Feels odd like a last minute tack-on job. Doesn't look anywhere near as well integrated as the new nexon IMO.

Give me the ventilated seats and I am sold. Not sure why manufacturers are omitting this in 20L+ cars.
