BMW iX1 electric SUV launched in India at Rs. 66.90 lakh

According to a media report, BMW is likely to launch the iX1 electric SUV in India next month. Rumours suggest that it could be priced between Rs 60-65 lakh (ex-showroom).

The all-electric BMW iX1 is based on the third-generation X1, which was unveiled globally last year. It features a blanked-off front fascia in BMW's typical twin-kidney design, which is flanked by redesigned LED headlamps. It also gets new alloy wheels and a reworked rear end.

The BMW iX1 is expected to be offered in the xDrive30 variant. It uses a dual-motor setup offering 313 BHP and 494 Nm and is powered by a 64.7 kWh lithium-ion battery, allowing the car to cover 438 km on a single charge.

The iX1 comes with an 11 kW charger. It is also capable of fast charging with a capacity of up to 130 kW.

The specs are inferior to that of the recently launched Volvo C40. I think it is only in terms of passenger space that iX1 beats the C40.

I think this will be a great option for those who loved the new X1 except for its lackluster powertrains. If BMW prices it well, I am sure it will sell well.

I just saw a iX1 xDrive40 variant on the road in Pune this afternoon. Thought of clicking a pic but the traffic conditions didn’t allow.
Wonder if that is a direct import.

That would be a welcome move. Main complaints with the current X1 is the lack of AWD and very low power output. A high performance EV xdrive variant should take care of both and it will be a whole generation ahead of Volvo's aging XC40 platform. Considering that Mercedes hasn't brought the electric GLA here, this would dominate the segment if priced on par with the XC40 recharge.

Waiting for this one.

C40 rear seats are too hard and too upright for my liking. The ride isnt great either.

If BMW gets the driving dynamics right on this, it will be a hoot to drive. 0 to 100 in 5.x seconds and decent ride/interiors/space

I dont think there is a 40 version of ix1. There is only the 30 version of ix1.
ix has a 40 version though. Can some experts clarify.

re: BMW iX1 electric SUV launched in India at Rs. 66.90 lakh

Now I know why BMW launched the 18i and 18d X1s in India at the price they are at. To make this look VFM ! . Let's see the pricing, but frankly, given the tax advantage, it should be priced reletively well unless they want to maintain safe distance from the EV6.

The pricing of the iX1 makes the Kia EV6 more VFM.
It should have been priced closer to the Volvo C40 Recharge. Even the C40 feels better priced against this.

If badge is not a concern, then opt for EV6. A born EV with a better motor, larger battery and longer range is a no brainer against the iX1.

re: BMW iX1 electric SUV launched in India at Rs. 66.90 lakh

BMW have chosen to launch only the dual motor higher spec variant and not the lower spec single motor one. They have thrown all the bells and whistles in with ADAS, adaptive LED headlights, adaptive suspension etc. Features not available in the regular X1. The pricing is indeed steep and had to justify even with these. I think Luxury EVs are fat profit makers for the manufacturers, with less parts content, less overall cost of goods manufactured, less warranty cost, yet perceived to be more valuable by customers and able to command premium. Cover this phase may be short lived, as competition intensifies and auto companies of the cut prices as Tesla is now doing globally

re: BMW iX1 electric SUV launched in India at Rs. 66.90 lakh

Dead on arrival. With no USP over the Ioniq 5 and EV6, this iX1 is an absolute disaster.
In fact, except for the badge value (which again is not a deal breaker) there is nothing that stops one to buy an EV6 over this iX1. In fact, Ioniq 5 is too good over this iX1.
Alternatively, if the brand factor is a must, then XC40 recharge is a way better choice over this.
