Re: 2023 Tata Nexon.EV Review

Is there a way to shut the AI up for good? It's so irritating that she keeps announcing random things and it's a major turn off for me right now despite the car being so good. I kept finding myself yelling at the screen for it to shut the hell up.

I think the price for the top variant is justified considering all features especially 360 camera, blind spot monitoring (saw this first time in a Model 3 in my cousin's Tesla in Dubai, was pretty impressed!), better music system, larger screen and ventilated seats.

All the features seem cosmetic/ non essential as these aren't there in my current car (Tigor). But still tempted to go for the top variant. Any advice would be greatly appreciated if you find the below features to be non negotiable. Context - need a low maintenance car for daily city commute of around 100 km in Delhi NCR.
When comparing, I have listed the features that aren't there in the fearless+S variant.
1. Ventilated seats
2. Auto dimming IRVM
3. Air purifier
4. Rear seat armrest
5. Premium leatherette seats
6. 60-40 split
7. 31 cm touch screen
8. 360 camera
9. Blind spot monitoring
10. Subwoofer
11. Sos call button
12. Front parking sensors
The ventilated seats are a boon during the Indian Summers. For a less intense AC setting, the seats get cooled much faster. I have it on my current car and thank it each time the car was parked in the sun for a while.
Although Nexon is fairly compact, the 360 camera and front sensors make parking a breeze, even for a novice. As your commute is ~100kms, sub woofer should make it fun. All in all, what you are getting additional is worth more than the additional money being charged. So, my take: go for the Empowered+ variant .

Just these 4 are enough to make me stretch to the top model. Everything else is just a bonus.

You should definitely sit in this car and check this for yourself. Numbers wont tell you the right picture. Im 5'10" and I did not like the ergonomics of Nexon EV Max. I was perfectly fine in a petrol nexon but something is off with the max's comfort.

How I wish car companies give option of good fabric seats even in the top model. Ventilated seats are unnecessary overengineered things. I wonder what happens to these over time.

Both sunroof and leather needs to be optional in a hot country like ours.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon.EV Review

Has anyone laid their eyes on the MR model ? I wanted to know if the MR gets a P position on the gear selector.

On the variants, I felt that Fearless is great VFM. It comes with the essentials. In hoping that I can get a third party 360 degree cam as an accessory eventually to complete the feature set. I really don't miss a subwoofer and with fabric seats, I am fine to give ventilated seats a miss.

What fearless does offer is a lot more practical storage space on the central console with multiple cup holders and bins. Higher varients get that useless wireless charging pad instead. Maybe if I can get an aftermarket arm rest, I can get the ideal mix of features.

Spot on. The rear seat is set too far back and the recline angle (non adjustable) is too relaxed. The aperture of the rear door is small and there is precious little space to slide your foot out. These are all standard Nexon quirks, relics of the platform. But they are manageable/livable in the petrol-diesel car as well as the Prime/medium range EV. But when you add to it the significantly raised floor, it becomes a deal breaker for many. The ergonomics of the old Max as well as the LR variant of the facelift are badly messed up. Ten minutes in the back gave me and my father cervical pain, while my father also found it very difficult to get out of the car. Required a fair bit of contortions. Up front, the steering doesn’t go low enough and telescopic adjust is badly missed. Again, causes cervical pain. This Indica Vista platform is robust and provides excellent ride and handling, but the ergonomics have always been messed up. You have to make your peace with them. The only real deal breaker in an otherwise excellent car.

Agreed. I am a big fan of fabric seats. There should always be an option, even in the top variants.

Having owned and experienced a car with leather seats which are ventilated and another with fabric seats which are not ventilated, I can safely say that the comfort levels of ventilated ones are much better than fabric seats. I would stick my neck out and even say that this has been one of the most meaningful comfort feature additions that manufacturers have brought into the Indian market. So much so that even 2 wheeler manufacturers are now following suit. Just see what TVS has done with the new RTR 310!

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon.EV Review

Booked the top model. Expected delivery within 5 days.. fingers crossed.
I came to know that the tax relief on ev loan interest was till 31 March only.. that's a bummer. Is that true?

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon.EV Review

I am pretty keen on Fearless MR (as a 2nd car in the household), its ticking almost all the boxes for me and as the requirement is to drive only around 55kms each day within city limits the MR is probably good enough for my purpose.

Have a question, have received price quotes from few Tata dealers where an amount close to 23-24K is marked as ‘Road Tax & Registration’ charges (and the amount is CONSTANT across variants!). But aren’t these charges ZERO for EVs currently? The Sales Advisors naturally are defending that charge (but I am sceptical of their knowledge level obviously). I am from Kolkata and as per the following link, WB govt is not going to charge RT+Reg charges till 31-Mar-2024. Can you guys throw any light / is it something very silly which I am asking?

Eagerly waiting for the TD in the upcoming week. SA is saying they have only LR cars for the TD (as expected), any idea where can I view any of the MR models?

I haven't seen the MR variant in person yet. Even the Mumbai showrooms only have the LR variant on display.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon.EV Review

I was going through this thread along with YouTube reviews for Nexon.ev.
Where I came across this:

There seem to be glitches in the digital MID in Nexon.EV models at present.
That is why I think Tata is not delivering any Nexon.EVs to fix the bugs and avoid post delivery greviences.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon.EV Review

Initially, I thought there is glass in steering center (so many reviewers said it), and in emergency, it will flip up like a laptop lid and airbag will deploy. But it is actually a plastic with a very small seam in centre running horizontally out of which airbag will deploy.
Here's the video:
