This would be my father’s daily drive and our go to car for short trips.
My parents didn’t like the looks and size of the Punch EV but want a car that is not too large either (no Curvv EV).

So Nexon fits the bill perfectly with its adequate size(<4m) and great pricing(<15lakhs).

But do tell if we should consider other options or wait for newer options.

If you're not in a hurry and can wait, Nexon EV may get a new battery pack in the next few months similar to the Curve. It might be worth waiting for it. No clear timelines yet, but Telegram groups have pics of Nexon EV undergoing testing.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon.EV Review

I began experiencing issues with the charging actuator in mid-July. While it initially started charging without problems, it failed to unlock the gun using the gun unlock switch, requiring me to manually unlock it by pulling the ring. By the last week of July, the actuator stopped initiating charging entirely, as it was stuck in the unlocked position.

On August 3rd, I visited TASS and was informed that the actuator would be replaced under warranty, with the part expected to arrive in 10 days. After 15 days, I followed up, but the part was still unavailable. Since I was out of town for the next two weeks, I contacted them again on September 3rd. They assured me the part would arrive within the next three days.

Finally, on September 6th, I received a call confirming that the part was available. I requested pick-up and drop-off service, and the actuator was replaced. The car was delivered to me the following day.

I also asked them to update the infotainment, and arcade.EV finally started working for me after owning the car for almost a year.

While browsing through ownership groups for solutions, I discovered that the actuator issue is quite common across all generations of the Nexon EV. It seems the actuator movement gets blocked due to muck thrown up by the rear wheel. It’s surprising that such a widespread issue remains unaddressed and hasn't been properly fixed yet.

Yes this is a problem that I recently faced with my Nexon EV Max (documented below)

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/elect...ml#post5836210 (Nexon EV Max: My first niggle after 32K kilometers)

This looks like a long term niggle that we will have to live with. Tata can in fact easily solve this issue with an appropriately designed mud flap. Or may be there can be some after market solution for this.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon.EV Review

After the price-cut fiasco, the Nexon EV gives me something to smile about. Last week I extracted my highest range in my daily commute conditions. After a session of slow charging (7.2 kw) I drove 249.3 kms with 29 % charge remaining. The range estimated at 105 kms. Now I would have loved to push it further but my office commute is 60kms and I do not push my battery < 20%. So though I can get more, I have recharged at this point.

So a total range of 355 kms!

Attaching MID pics along with driving behavior analysis.

Other points;

- Driving mode, sport mode with 1 level regen.
- lower traffic density owing to Ganesh festival
- ACC set at 26°

They've launched it!

Nexon EV now gets a 45kw prismatic battery pack. The ex-showroom prices are as below:

Creative 45-13.99 lakhs
Fearless 45-14.99 lakhs
Empowered-15.99 lakhs
Empowered + 16.99 lakhs

I hope the HV critical alert is solved for good with this update. It also gets faster 1.2C charging speed like the Curvv EV. A 12 litre frunk and a Panoramic Sunroof.

Windsor Effect? Tata has responded to the Windsor challenge hitting Windsor in its weak area. The range. Giving Nexon a 100km range advantage which is substantial and new features like panoramic sunroof.

Your move MG. Come with the 50kwh battery.

Long live competition!

I think it will remain the same or may be even lower. Prismatic cells are more space efficient than the previous cylindrical cells?

Also we should now see faster charging and a comfortable range of 300kms. This does bring the Nexon EV back into contention. The slow charging was a particular pain point with earlier Tata EVs. 1.2C charging indicates this should be supporting atleast 50kw DC charging.

Wow then they do have a winner on their hands, if they can sort out the warranty mess they are on with battery dents, TATA seems back in the game.

Not likely. Prismatic battery has a 10-15% higher density. The battery capacity has risen by 12.5% (40 to 45 kWh), which implies the same volume as before.

On another note, the domino effect has begun (thanks to MG Windsor). We will hopefully continue to see price cuts on the EVs now, hopefully to the point where ICE vehicles start feeling the heat and the overpricing in ICE vehicles is looked into by the manufacturers as well.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon.EV Review

Now this is what is called a fitting reply to MG Windsor launch when you cannot beat the price, move the yard stick. The manufacturer wars in EV space are really heating up. Tata is going relentless with their product launches, be it EV, Petrol, Diesel, CNG, they are launching everything.

Game on MG. Will MG respond by launching the 50 KWH version of MG Windsor?

After watching the review on Content with cars (Malayalam) by bhpian Vivek my excitement on MG Windsor has really gone down. Here are some of my biggest problems

1. No Regen Zero.

2. Regen selection from infotainment so on the fly adjustment is impossible. They do not even have the NExon Max style button on the side let alone paddle shifter based regen selection

3. Seats are not great (according to Vivek).

Also it seems unlike ZS EV this has at most 30 KW Fast charging. If true that will be the final nail in the coffin for this car.

So a 45KWH Nexon EV will win hands down. In fact I would be okey with Punch EV as well if Windsor only has a 38 KWh battery.
