Re: Tata Nexon EV facelift leaked ahead of debut

I routinely get 350 km range on my EV Max. That is roughly 115Wh/km. Of course you need to be very light footed and also anticipate traffic to keep the watt hours low.

Re: Tata Nexon EV facelift leaked ahead of debut

Very exciting launch. Looks very good, and the features list is very good. I am glad they replaced the blue strips with black like the ICE version.

Range might be over 300km in actual driving conditions due to the upgraded lighter motor. Will know when official review is out.
The interior also looks better with the lighter shade. Now only pricing will be key.

They should have introduced all 4 disk brakes in the ICE version like in the EV since they have improved very much on safety with 6 airbags standard, ESP etc.

And regarding capacity, I don't think this platform can fit in any larger pack comfortably. They would have to change the design and increase length, and there might be some limitation about size as it is still the old X1 platform.

We will see better EV hardware when the ALFA EVs roll out.

Re: Tata Nexon EV facelift leaked ahead of debut

Impressed with the features that the empowered trims have to offer.
But I’m shocked to see that there’s still no rear disc brakes on offer for the medium range top end. Not to forget the electric park brake with auto hold which is a great boon in city traffic.
The fearless variant seems to be the one to go for. For those who are on a budget IMO.
Tata should come out with incentives/schemes for existing Nexon Ev owners so we can upgrade easily, what say?

Re: Tata Nexon EV facelift leaked ahead of debut

I still can't understand Tata's inability to fix their fit and finish issues.

Didn't they already buy Ford's super modern automated Sanand plant ? Or is the problem with their been vendors ?

I think what Nexon needed was less the facelift but more a Nexon V2 which fixed quality issues.

Ford's sanand plant is being retrofitted for Tata's manufacturing process. It will be operational in another 6-12 months. Tata gave a statement in Feb 2023 that the plant will be operational in 12-18 months

Providing a parking cog does not depend on rear discs or an electronic parking brake.

Have attached screenshots from the brochures. Might be worth clarifying.
Good catch, I didn't notice they changed the percentages. Looks like charging speed might have increased. Hope to see this covered in one of the reviews.

Re: Tata Nexon EV facelift leaked ahead of debut

These light(ish) interiors are going to be a pain to maintain. I live this struggle everyday with kids on my Marazzo and monsoons just make it even worse.

But the exterior design looks truly appealing. Not an ev person so not really interested in the mechanics of range, features etc.

Looks like the charging speed is the same only. Page 35 of the PDF brochure mentions 10%-80% in 56 mins.

Tata Nexon.ev facelift bookings open in India

Tata Motors has started accepting bookings for the Nexon.ev facelift. Customers place their orders by paying a token amount of Rs 21,000.

The Nexon.ev comes in 6 variants: Creative+, Fearless, Fearless+, Fearless+ S, Empowered and Empowered+.

The Nexon.ev gets a heavily redesigned front fascia with a new LED light signature. Unlike the ICE version, the EV gets an LED light bar at the front, a body-coloured front fascia with a different air dam mesh design and new dual-tone alloy wheels. The electric SUV comes in seven exterior shades: Fearless Purple, Creative Ocean, Daytona Grey, Intensi-teal, Pristine White, Flame Red, and Empowered Oxide.

The updated Nexon EV gets V-shaped taillights connected by an LED light bar. Tata claims the new design is more aerodynamic while the LED lighting is more energy efficient.

Inside, the Nexon.ev features an all-new dashboard with a new centre console with haptic touch switches, a 2-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo and a digital instrument cluster. The EV also gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and features like a 360-degree camera, a wireless charger, ventilated front seats, an air-purifier, a single-pane sunroof, voice commands and a new Arcade.ev app suite.

The Nexon.ev will be available in two versions: Medium Range (MR) and Long Range (LR). The former uses a 30 kWh battery offering 325 km of range, while the LR version gets a 40.5 kWh battery that can cover 465 km on a single charge.

Since EVs are single speed, they don't have a gearbox as such. In the absence of a gearbox, my understanding is that a parking pawl is not how the "P" position is implemented - EVs use the parking brake to hold the car in place when put in "P".

Even in MG Comet for example, there is no "P". You place the car in "N" and pull the handbrake.

I'm unsure about lower segment EVs but generally there is a park cowl shoved into place by an electric actuator that is controlled by the ECU when the park position is selected. Cars without this generally don't have a "P" at all.

Absolutely... The Creative Ocean with The white roof .
WLTP rating indicates good efficiency almost close to Kona...
It all now comes down to if Tata.EV can deliver a niggle free experience with this one. But this one has definitely upped the game...

Re: Tata Nexon EV facelift leaked ahead of debut

I am eagerly waiting for Nexon ev review

I am in a dilemma -
My monthly running is 2500km, mostly in Delhi NCR with once in 2 month outing. I would want to own a single car only.

Currently, I have a Tigor AMT with retrofit CNG. Lately facing issues with the car. So want to buy a new one.
My requirements -
1. Low running cost
2. Hassle free ownership
3. Budget not more than 14L
4.Rear AC vents
5. Automatic car

I have booked the Nexon ev LR, even it is way out of my budget (14L) considering low cost of ownership.
I am making two assumptions here -
1. I will be able to recover extra spent money within the warranty period only
1.6L km fuel cost in petrol - Rs. 16L whereas it will be 1.6 L in EV. I will be able to complete 1.6 L km in around 7 years.

2. The ownership would be hassle free as it would be my only car.

Now sharing two risks that are holding me back :
1. Resale value in 8 years. Considering tech advancements in battery space. Reading about Tesla resale value being pathetic.
2. Would it be a wise decision to buy a car more than your Yearly salary (not much though), on EMI just considering comfort and low running cost?

Sharing why I am biased towards buying it -
1. I feel connected with Tata, having a good experience with my current Tigor having done close to 1L kms on it (current issues are mostly CNG based)
2. Don't need to think about bad roads on my Tigor - brings smile to my face thinking I will have more rugged car
3. Comfort in driving the car. Feels good when I can sip coffee even while driving car in traffic, even in my AMT.
4. Will have petrol pump at home
5. New features make me feel it will stay relevant for next 5-7 years.

A couple of things I am eagerly waiting for the Team BHP review :
1. Will the real world mileage become better and more consistent, even on hills (for occasional drives). Considering the new motor is used now
2. Most vfm model having good amount of features.

I have booked Nexon LR. I want to go ahead and take the risk ( just need to get my wife on the same page which is the most difficult task IMHO )
I am open to suggestions though.

Answering only the quoted portion on the presumption that you will finance the car - general financial prudence says that:
1. You should be able to pay 20 percent down payment.
2. Total value of the car should not exceed 50 percent of your yearly income.
3. Your total running expenses plus EMI do not exceed 10 percent of your salary.

I do not want to elaborate much further except that the above rule truly helps to manage your finance well and maintain some form of security. There's no point paying 30k emi if your current fuel expense plus service etc. Is within say 20k. The additional 10k over 7 years will leave you with a corpus of about 10 lacs easily while the saving you are making on the fuel is purely notional.

Even if you argue that your income will increase, remember that inflation causes your expense also to increase. If you have surplus cash, you don't need to worry at all. If you have cash but not surplus, still it won't make sense as the compounding effect of money will fetch you more interest than the EMI interest you pay.

All said, if your car is due for replacement, the above rationale fail and you will have to work our your financial commitments to decide how much you think is your ability and consider any alternatives available before committing for a buy equal to your annual income.
