Study: AI analyses 60 popular EVs to create "a blueprint of the ultimate EV"

A new study by GridServe - a sustainable energy company, has come up with digital renders of what it calls "a blueprint of the ultimate EV". The study is said to have used the most common styling cues found in popular zero-emission production models to create the renders.

The study is said to have analysed 60 of the most popular EVs to see if their exterior design incorporated a list of the top 10 most commonly used features. As per the analysis, 85% of the EVs in the study have a covered grille with a pattern and 70% come with aerodynamic wheels. It also mentions that 58% incorporate blue and silver accents to communicate their zero-emissions nature, while a similar percentage of EVs come with a diffuser at the rear, which not only makes them look sportier but also covers the absence of a tailpipe.

The study also showed that 55% of the EVs analysed were SUVs - expected, as it is the most popular body style among buyers. In addition, 47% of the EVs had full-width LED tail lights, 42% had a smooth surface all around, 40% had flush-fitting door handles, 27% had a grille-less look and 20% had slim headlights.

Using these parameters, a digital render was created with an artificial intelligence proposed moniker "ElectronX". The generic EV render "ElectronX" was painted in Grey (the most popular colour in the UK for the 5th consecutive year) and was envisioned with a length of 4,590 mm, placing it in the compact SUV segment. The ElectronX render was even given a drag co-efficient of 0.27cd.

Cool render. No doubt it had to be a SUV. The desire to own a car that looks big has been a reoccurring wish from the people since decades. No matter how much EVs advance but the grill less front which is covered by flat panel still doesn't quite strikes the chord. It always feels something is amiss or deleted, just like we see blank spaces in dashboard in lower models of any car. I know EVs and their design will progress sooner than expected. I wish ICE cars and EVs could co exist with each other and not cannibalise either one .

Glad to know that AI is still dumber than humans, at least in terms of design. To me, this thing looks like a deformed boiled egg with LED lights strapped on.

There we have it, it’s official. AI designs even more bland and boring cars than humans!

Some might call it progress, but not me.
