Audi Q8 e-tron & Q8 Sportback e-tron bookings open in India

Audi has opened bookings for the Q8 e-tron and Q8 Sportback e-tron in India. Customers can place their orders by paying a sum of Rs 5 lakh. Prices will be announced on August 18.

The Q8 e-tron replaces the Audi e-tron in the brand's EV line-up. It features a hexagonal grille with gloss black surrounds up front, LED headlights, reworked front and rear bumpers and a new 2D Audi logo. The Sportback has a more striking coupe-like design.

The EV comes equipped with all the creature comforts you would expect in a luxury SUV of this size. There is a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a separate screen for the HVAC, a digital cockpit, a 16-speaker Bang and Olufsen audio system, ventilated front seats with massage and memory function, a panoramic sunroof and a 360-degree camera.

In India, the Q8 e-tron will be offered with a 114 kWh battery pack that powers a set of 4 electric motors – one on each axle. It has a combined output of 402 BHP and 664 Nm. The Q8 e-tron has a claimed range of 582 km, while the Sportback can cover 600 km on a single charge.

Real world will be 450-500; The earlier variant that I have goes 350-400 real world, so this should be 30% more. But it will vary widely depending on driving styles.

It’s actually between a Q5 and a Q7 in terms of size - so Q6 is how I think of it. It’s nearly 5 meters long but does not look like that even if you look at the side profile given the other dimensions. It’s only when you park it next to something else then you realize that either the nose is sticking out or the rear end wont go in as deep as the car next to you.
That’s true it’s actually longer and wider than my gloster

Re: Audi Q8 e-tron Review

0-100 of around 6s!

Slower than a gas powered base X5 (40i) and yet pricier.

BMW iX will smoke it out (the sportsback), at almost similar power if one can tolerate the new styling.

After spending 1.3Cr plus and at 402HP, it will risk being smoked out by X3M or GLC43.

I know 0-100 time is not everything but with 114kWh battery and shelling out 1.3Cr plus, this kind of performance does not look like a good deal. Why won't someone simply buy iX?

Not to start an argument, but why would someone who is spending 1.2Cr want a IX over this ?
1. 114Kw vs 76Kw. Range for an EV especially at this price range makes far more sense than performance. Also this car is unlikely to get ourdragged by the IX. We do not have the ix50 or ix60 in India.
2. Better looks on E-tron
3. Better rear seat comfort.

If I was in the market for a car at this price point I would anyday take this over the ix. And I am a BMW fanboy btw. Actually the pricing of E-tron has made a lot of electric cars in this segment look overpriced. Hope this spurs the BMW to bring the ix50 to India.

Re: Audi Q8 e-tron Review

Ok. I think you have a point. My post was based on iX vs Q8-etron comparison on other site which I read some time back, which was ix50.
So yes, if one has a budget in that range and want an EV, it is a decent choice.

But then again, the bang for the buck is low (which in general is true in India) even compared to an m40i.

Given the lack of charging network, high cost of DC chargers, 4.5hr even for a 22kW AC charger means this may not be that cost effective in long run. Yes, it may be environmentally better and of course EV ride is a different experience altogether (in general).

Why does anyone want to buy a DC charger? When charging happens at midnight while you sleep it does not matter whether it takes 4.5hr or 10hr for charging.

The Q8 sits above the Q7 and is more comparable to a BMW X6 or Benz GLE coupe.

If your definition of a car’s value is solely tied to how fast it can go, just get yourself a GLA45 amg for 80L or xc40 recharge for 60L and enjoy doing 0-100 runs in 4.3 seconds.

Re: Audi Q8 e-tron Review

Audi is providing eight years or 1,60,000 kilometers warranty on the battery unit of electric SUVs. Additionally, customers get five years extended warranty which can be further extendable up to seven years.

The luxury carmaker pledged to provide a service package of up to seven years while also offering roadside assistance of up to 10 years.

Moreover, Audi is also providing a complementary charging facility to all Audi e-tron owners till the end of this year. At present, customers can access over 1,000 charging points across the country through the ‘myAudi connect’ mobile app. As for the charging speed, the e-tron’s battery pack can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 31 minutes via the 170kW DC fast charger.

While I agree with your 1st point, parking 2nd aside, the I rear seat comfort is far superior to the etron.

In the iX you are sat a bit low but at 5'11, 95 kilos, I didn't feel knees up at all. (I have been very critical of Land Rovers for their knees up seating even in their Range Rover - last gen) The space in the iX feels like it's from a higher segment. On the other hand, the etron (I have test driven the pre face-lift) felt it doesn't deserve a Q8 badge (now) but a Q6 and the Bimer could use an X8 badge, excepting the road presence.

Going to point 2, at 1.2-1.3 Crores for an unconventional car, I want a car that tells the world exactly that. Else, given our charging infrastructure I would take a ICE Q8 or an X7. Or save cash and even take a Q7 or an X5, or go even more conservative with a GLE!

Re: Audi Q8 e-tron Review

It's a starting price, some of the loadings are valuable, while others are out of place for a vehicle in this segment.

Adaptive wipers - 80K
22KW On board charger - 3,68 L

Comfort seats, including ventilation/ Massage/ Memory - 7,24 L
B&O - 2,54 L
An exterior black package - 2,2 L
Park assist plus - 3,53 L
Electric steering wheel - 89K
Matrix LED - 6,73

So with most of the above (there are more options, too), we are looking at around 1,3-1,40 of an Ex-showroom.

Still a competitive price given it's CBU, and the chassis itself is pretty good as far as handling is concerned. I didn't like how Audi tuned it on Q8 and the gearshifts. No such problems in EVs. It will be interesting to see how Porsche adapts this thing to their Ecosystem if ever they do.
