Just called the service centre in Hyd(pretty close to my house which is a nice to have). They did not have a price list. But they're gave me an approximate price range of 3.8L for the base model, 4.2L for the one with an a.c. and 4.8 for the high end.
Thought of buying one for my wife for the neighborhood trips. But for that price difference I can hire a driver, and it would cover my fuel expenses for atleast a couple of years.

Holy crap!! I was under the impression that the Reva sells for 2.5 lac on road. Air-con version for 4.2? No wonder they are a rare breed.

Talking about costs - the Reva owners have started facing some very unpleasent surprises in the form of a NOTICE from the RTO for payment of road tax.

It seems that the road tax excemption is applicable only for a period of 5 years and after that...boom...shell out a minimum of 18K for standard model (which is mine) and upto 40K approximate for the higher end.
And I am talking about cars which are older than 5 years.

hmmm.. wonder how much faattka for the Revai owners a few years done the line.

And I must add, a poor customer service from the Reva company. This was not informed earlier or at any point of time till I called them for clarifications.

Hi RAC

How about putting up an ownership review of the Reva, since you have owned it for 5 years? Will be a first on Team-BHP and surely help potential owners.

That's some news....
Why is road tax excemption is applicable only for a period of 5 years for Reva cars ?

RAC common, put up a review of the REVA with some pics too. its more than welcome to understand what your ownership experience has been. and how many kms have you clocked dude? and what sort of costs have you incurred on this so far? Is it practically viable in the longer term for this cost? Let us know!!

Hi Sushrutha
About the 5 year period - they informed me that the agreed period with the government was for a 5 year period from the date of purchase.

Spoke to the Reva guys again at VY and got a cold response. I was clearly told to pay the tax or the interest will be levied by the RTO dept from the due date.

Weird rule, it is. What is the point of exemption if the whole thing has to be paid a few years down the line. And don't even ask how the illustrious govt. dept. arrived at the calculations. It's still a mystery to me.

If you were not informed of this at the time of delivery, thats a terribly inethical practice from Maini.
