According to a media report, Audi is planning to expand its electric vehicle portfolio with the introduction of the Q8 e-tron. The EV will be launched in India next month and will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU).



The Q8 e-tron will be available in two body styles - SUV and Sportback, and three variants - Q8 50 e-tron, Q8 55 e-tron and SQ8 e-tron. The Q8 50 e-tron quattro comes with dual electric motors producing 335 BHP and 664 Nm. It is powered by a 95 kWh battery pack offering a maximum range of 491 - 505 km (WLTP cycle), depending on the body style. The Q8 55 e-tron packs 402 BHP and 664 Nm and is powered by a 104 kWh battery that offers a maximum range of 582 - 600 km on a single charge.



Audi also offers a high-performance version called the SQ8 e-tron. It uses three electric motors with a combined output of 496 BHP and 973 Nm. This model is also powered by a 104 kWh battery pack, which gives it a range of 494 - 513 km.



Audi India's current lineup of electric vehicles includes the e-tron 50, the e-tron 55, the e-tron Sportback 55, the e-tron GT, and the RS e-tron GT.

Does anyone have any indication of the price range for this one? I am in the market for an EV SUV and am evaluating everything between Volvo C40/XC40 recharge to the Mercedes EQB to the BMW iX. I do not mind waiting till August.

Being a CBU, and high-end Audi model, it will certainly be somewhere near 2CR on-road.

I think in that case this will be dead on arrival! This is not actually a ICE Q8 sized vehicle, it is smaller but just given the name Q8 so I do hope Audi prices it sensibly looking at the market!

Yeah. Even in the US, it starts at $US 75K and goes up to $US 90K. Not sure which variant Audi will bring to India but add CBU taxes, GST, Cess, Road Tax, etc on top, and image the price

Whatever be it's price, absolutely love the way it looks. Perfect proportions and clean lines. And impeccable quality. No quirkyness to please a particular market. Hopefully I can lay my hands on it one day.

Stick with iX. There are small discounts and some good buyback offers. It's a proper EV and when you sit, it's easy to notice. EQB is also very good for the price, they have upgraded the variant silently and the current one has better range than what they launched before. It's not as premium as an iX but in that budget better than Volvo in my opinion. Q8 is around 1,2 - Plus 12 lac discounts and extended warranty. We can expect the e-tron around same but with better loadings as the GST on EV's is less. But you never know about Audi

Thanks for this Turbanator! I will take the test drive for iX. Have been delaying it because I may end up liking it too much to convince me otherwise! Also I personally feel it grabs too many eyeballs and that is something I am slightly wary of. Nonetheless what discounts are we expecting with the iX? Coming to the EQB and XC40, I did test drive both and somehow XC40 felt much better put together than the EQB. Also the size and proportion seemed fit for the city and occasional highway drives, if only Volvo had clear communication as to when is it coming with the new drivetrain which is present in the C40!

The Q8 e-tron, which continues to be offered in both SUV and Sportback body styles, is more than just a renaming exercise. It gets styling tweaks, better aerodynamics, more features and, crucially, a higher capacity 114kWh battery that replaces the original e-tron’s 95kWh pack. Also on offer in India is the lesser ‘50’ trim equipped with a smaller capacity 95kWh battery pack, which still surpasses the earlier e-tron 50’s 71kWh capacity.

Really impressed with the new E-Tron twins. While the reviews from Indian journalists so far is nothing to talk about, I loved the review of the car by Autotrader UK. I prefer the regular bodystyle to the Sportback. If one can get that in some snazzy colors with the black pack, it would make for - arguably - one of the best looking electric cars in the market this side of the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo. The only disappointment is that it doesn't have the wow factor of the BMW iX but then, it looks impressive in its own way.
