As someone who has seen the production-approved BE05 in the Mahindra Futurescape event earlier this year, I can only say that the camouflage is doing a brilliant job, may be a bit too much! The actual car made the jaws drop for most journos.

Since pictures were not allowed and even our phones were taken before the event - all I can say is that the production version will remain more than 80-90% true to the below concept. Note: While seeing these pictures, remember this is a Compass sized car, and not Nexon sized.

Re: Mahindra BE.05 electric SUV spied for the first time

The outer plasticky shell covering the center horn/keys pad on steering is hopefully just a dummy part hiding the real buttons behind it. I hope Mahindra is not going for touch sensitive buttons on steering wheel like VW had haptic touch buttons in their electric cars at some point of time.

Mahindra BE.05 electric SUV spied for the first time-vw-touchsensitive-buttons-steering-wheel.jpg

I only see a horn sign on right most section of it so most likely my assumption is correct, because otherwise its downright UGLY! to look at. Plus VW car owners had given mostly negative response to their usability. It led VW to bring back the physical buttons finally in 2023/2024 models.

IMO, by 2030 massive floating screens will surround the entire interior (excluding boot lid , maybe ? ). OEMs can ditch physical door latch / window controls and integrate them to screens. The top end version might have no physical windows and outside visuals would be displayed on an bigger side screen. Optional adventure persona will offer a 55" screen in place of sunroof.

Youtube sensation Carlover a.k.a wasteoftime will have another viral video after installing a screen in mudflaps.

These designs just grow on us, the BMW was panned since the car looked like a frog. Chinese innovation is mostly limited to how well reverse engineering other automobiles can be innovated. There are a few outliers like BYD, but mostly talk of Chinese automobiles and innovation don’t go together in one sentence imho.

Both the camouflaged vehicles look good. The blue camouflaged vehicle looks absolutely droolworthy.

As a satisfied Mahindra customer for four years now, this will definitely be on the top of my upgrade list next year, provided this comes with 350 kms real world range, AWD, a sub 8 sec 0-100kmph acceleration, and creature comforts like ventilated seats.

Cars with a sloping roofline or sloping C/(D?) pillar is called as coupe.

The one you meant is a 'hardtop', without a B pillar, which could be 2 door or 4 door.

Re: Mahindra BE.05 electric SUV spied for the first time

It will be good for Tata to get some competition in the EV space and this looks like a serious competitor. If Mahindra get it right this could be a gamechanger, more than Nexon EV was.

That said, we also need competition in the sub-10L segment, where there's only Tiago (basic trim) and Comet (not to everyone's taste, and I found the floor in the back seat far too high, though the front was surprisingly comfortable). But perhaps Mahindra isn't the right manufacturer for that segment (remembering KUV100, Verito Vibe...)

Re: Mahindra BE.05 electric SUV spied for the first time

Hello folks!

Sharing some pics we were able to snap (from the rear only) of the BE.05 testing on NH 48 on the 30th of December.

The camo was a little confusing, but as you can see in one of the images, it's nearly as big as (if not bigger) than the Innova. I'd put it well beyond 4.5 m in length and the scoped spoilers look nice!

Re: Mahindra BE.05 electric SUV spied for the first time

Hi, I spotted the new car undergoing testing in leh during the winters today. It looks like the XUV E9. The testing crew is staying in my hotel. They requested me not to take any photographs. But I managed to click 1 before they told me not to. The car has good road presence. I first confused it for a Kia EV6. It had a panaromic sunroof, a full digital dash and when the rear passenger opened the rear door, plenty of rear legroom. Let's see if I can sneak around the hotel car park after dark.
PS- The photo is clicked from an elevation, maybe that's why it is appearing smaller in the picture.

Now that's HOT. I hope BE.05 gets inspiration from this front facia rather than DRL overdose of the original concept.
