That's the XUV.e9 EV, the coupe crossover that was unveiled last August, along with the BE.05 and others.

"we can also see an independent rear suspension setup too. This will increase comfort for rear occupants. Rear independent suspension was on offer with Tata Indica and Indigo, but they are a rare find these days outside premium and luxury brands."

This is exciting! Mahindra coming out all guns blazing to the EV party!

The XUV e8 and e9 are the EV derivatives of 7OO, with e9 being the SUV coupe. BE.05 is likely to sit under them as a ground up all electric SUV.

The rear does appear un-necessarily bulbous in these spy shots. The Rall-E concept based on the BE.05 had a much nicer derrière IMO!

BE.05 from the above images looks very SUV coupe itself. Whereas at the initial reveal videos it seemed like BE.09 would be a coupe. Or maybe I'm just confused.

From what I remember all the XUV E variants and BE were all built on the INGLO platform. By EV derivative do you mean that it'll be like an XUV400 type ICE to EV convert? Or just the form factor would be the same but the underlying tech and platform would be the new skateboard platform

Speculation alert!

The way I see it, the BE.05 is a coupe-ish SUV, the BE.07 is a proper SUV, and the BE.09 is the SUV coupe derivative of the BE.07. Timeline for BE.05 and BE.07 are already laid out (October 2025 and 2026 respectively), but not BE.09. The BE.05 is likely to slot into a segment above the 4OO. An interesting thing to note is that the XUV3OO/4OO facelift that was spotted recently also seems to have a front section identical to the BE.05. Set to launch in 2024, Mahindra might be looking at a unified design across its EV lineup.

Now coming to the XUV E variants, although they are said to be based on the Inglo architecture, the profile looks very similar to the XUV7OO, which is why I said they might be based on the 7OO platform. Not sure if there is the presence of a frunk in these models as is the case with the BE range, that would have confirmed it.

Another question is whether there is a sufficient market gap to cram all these products into. With Tata ruling the roost in the Indian EV landscape, Mahindra's hands must be itching to take the game forward. The BE.05 might rival the upcoming Tata Curvv EV, like how the 4OO is a rival to the Nexon EV Max. The next EV in Tata's lineup is the upcoming Harrier EV, which could be priced 2 segments higher. That price gap is most likely to be occupied by the BE.07. The XUV e8/e9 could be the direct rival for the Harrier/Safari EV. And if all goes to plan, M & M could launch the BE.09 as a flagship vehicle, essentially straddling the 20L-50L price bracket. And to those wondering whether anyone would be putting in half a crore rupees into a Mahindra, they are more than 60% there, with the 7OO and Scorpio N already retailing for more than 30L and with pending orders running into the thousands. Interesting times ahead!

I quite agree with your speculation.

The only missing piece would be the Thar EV. With the F150s, jeep EV already launched or in some stage of development. It's not as crazy of a thought now to envision a Thar EV.

Mahindra has already tried it hands ( albeit not as successfully as the 700 or Scorpion) in the D-2 segment with Alturas. BE9 could slot right there.

Again like you said Interesting times ahead!

Maybe in the not too distant future. One more piece of the puzzle is the Sierra EV, which could slot into this mix as well. Although what we have now are concepts, roadmaps, and test mules, really proud to see the 2 Indian manufacturers come out with all guns blazing in the EV space, especially when India's biggest brand is busy rebadging Toyotas to fit into their portfolio.

Mahindra BE.05 electric SUV teased; gets a panoramic glass roof

Mahindra recently showcased the Global Pik Up and Thar.e concept at an event in South Africa. The carmaker also gave us a sneak peek at a pre-production prototype of the BE.05 electric SUV.

The teaser image shared by the company gives us a bird's-eye view of the BE.05, with the centre piece being the enormous glass roof. You can also see the wraparound windshield graphic from this angle.

The Mahindra BE.05 will be based on the INGLO platform. The all-new EV architecture supports front, rear and all-wheel drive configurations.

Mahindra's 'Born Electric' range of electric SUVs will be offered in single-motor and dual-motor configurations, with an overall output rated at 228-282 BHP and 335-389 BHP, respectively. Multiple battery options will be offered, ranging from 60-80 kWh. The batteries will be able to charge up to 80% in 30 minutes using a 175 kW fast charger.

The Mahindra BE.05 is part of the brand's 'Born Electric' range of pure-electric products based on the INGLO platform. The latest images feature a camouflaged test mule. Dont like this at all, not sure if such designs will be accepted in mass market segments, way too radical, the predator face will not age well

True. Sadly most EVs are very radically designed.
