Seems to me that autocar helps Tata to create a hype or maybe gauge interest in the community. Earlier also they posted an article saying that punch EV will be launched in late October.

I spoke to the Tata Sales Guys today. My ask was that I am interested in purchasing Punch EV but till its launched, I am ok to book a Tiago EV and they can later convert the same to Punch Booking. The SA made a comment that Punch will be launched on Feb 21st 2024. I am not sure how accurate this info is but he was ok to agree to my idea. Lets see how the test drive of Tiago goes tomorrow.

Just like Harrier / Safari, I am expecting Tata will launch the Punch ev and ICE facelift with six airbags, and maybe a BNCAP rating.

BNCAP website has a Punch with side airbags. Its recent, because it has a sunroof too.

Tata Punch EV fresh details revealed.




It will come with two battery pack options; likely to be called MR and LR.

Punch EV to get two battery pack options: 25kW and 35kW
Will come with ventilated seats, 10.25-inch screens
Bookings expected to commence next week

The two variants could, therefore, also be called Medium Range (MR) and Long Range (LR), as per Tata’s EV nomenclature. The small EV SUV will be based on the ALFA platform with Tata’s Gen 2 EV architecture, which essentially is an ICE to EV conversion with major modifications, and come with a liquid-cooled battery and a permanent magnet synchronous motor powering the front wheels.

Punch EV will get ventilated front seats, which will make it the most affordable car in the country to get this feature. Higher variants will get a new 10.25-inch touchscreen from the Nexon EV, while lower variants will have a smaller 7.0-inch screen. The jewelled drive selector from the Nexon EV will also be carried over.

Gen 2 motor has been unveiled for the Nexon.ev. So probably as you said the focus is going to be on the new battery pack this time. If there are further changes to motor is something we have to see. But I see chances are less for motor changes.

It does look good. But Tata should've given more information about the batteries and motor. Is it carrying over the motor from Tiago or the Nexon? Or is it an entirely new unit? There is no confirmed information on the battery options yet. Only speculations of 25 kWh and 35 kWh. While the 25 kWh could mean a carry over from Tiago, 35 kWh must be a new unit.

I really don't like the trend of car launches with little to no information about basic details.
