As far as I know Tesla didn't make turning indicators to be accessed via the centre touch screen. They removed the stalks in the Model S and X, and offer them as buttons in the steering wheel.

If in case you are referring to the Drive selector in the Model S which is accessed via the touchscreen then, there's a manual selector available if the screen is unavailable.

I'm personally not a fan of Tesla's many antics but just in reference to your fear, I wanted to clarify that Tesla has fail-safe features. I don't know about MG.

Watch till the very end...

YouTube clip shows Wuling AIR floating in water and after being tossed around it finds firm gound and finally drives out.

These are unbelievable and look so unreal...

Not sure what will happen to the motor and other parts after getting submerged in water. Probably needs to sent to service center for thorough cleanup and drying.

Battery submerged in 1m water for 30 minutes

An instant question that came to my mind after watching this video (Belongs to China, I assume), are we getting the same/better/lower build quality as to what is shown in the video?

The levels of water are on par with what you can expect in Mumbai during monsoon, but build quality is something to ponder upon.

Irrespective of the car we are in and safety it offers, It will always advisable not to drive in such water logged conditions unless one is stuck and it's a question of getting out safely.

You are right, there is not much standing water in the video. Will look forward to some real world reports.

Re: MG Comet EV Review

I had booked a Pace variant and was assuming that this can be charged from any 7.2kw public AC charger which are common in malls. I was told by the dealership that MG has specifically instructed them not to use the 7.2kw charger and only the 3 kw charger supplied with the car has to be used. My understanding was that the car will take as much current as is required irrespective of the charger capacity. So even if we try charging from a 7.2kw AC gun the BMS of the car should decide the input and the not the charger.

Has anyone who booked get some clarity on this as we have more 7.2kw public chargers rather than 3kw ones.

All AC chargers irrespective of any brand are just a fancy box with surge protection and a relay and a pilot signal circuit. The voltage, current and waveform from the AC mains is not altered by the AC wall charger. It is the cars onboard charger that decides how much it charges the battery.

The only difference between a 21kw, 7.2kw and 3.2kw AC wall charger is the relay rating and the cable thickness from wall charger to the ccs2 gun and wall chargers above 7.2kw are mostly 3 phase.

So yes even if you connect it to a 20kw AC public/wall charger. The AC to DC charger present onboard the car is what determines the charging capacity.

Re: MG Comet EV Review

A quirky little car.
Saw one in person a couple of days back, it’s an attention grabber that’s for sure but not everyone’s cup of tea.
Cars like these have not been able to capture our market rather if they had implemented a more conventional hatchback design together with this affordable EV ideology it would have done the trick.

Re: MG Comet EV Review

I went MG showroom to check ZS EV, while I was waiting for TD vehicle, I happened to peep in Comet.

The car is very compact and I loved the exterior design, coming to interior I felt the front seats were comfortable; however no centre console is a big miss for me, I will usually rest my left foot while driving. Rear I felt like sitting very low which made my experience uncomfortable. I didn’t drive so can’t comment on the performance.

Look at the under thigh support, my height is 5.10

I remember something about most electric cars being fine with floods. A comparable ICE car would have stalled from water entering the intake and needed to be towed. Not to mention very high risk of catastrophic engine damage due to water being incompressible.

On an unrelated note, saw a comet today followed by something more practical

Re: MG Comet EV Review

Happened to see a comet yesterday in person during some rainfall.

Wife & sister were puzzled & asked me "What is this car!?"

Told them its MG Comet, their layman comment was "Its so small & so squeezed up!"

Re: MG Comet EV Review

I was with the kids at Decathlon and there happened to be an MG store next door. On a lark, I decided to look at the Comet. While the design is definitely a talking point with minimalistic aesthetics, it just didn't seem very practical. In the same price range, I'd wager that the Tiago would offer that old Tata slogan - "more car per car". I didn't drive it so can't comment on that aspect though.

Please get the user manual and check if the high chargers can be accommodated. You can also check with MG customer care 1800-1006464.
