Re: Hyundai Ioniq 5 Review

Anyone had the audio OTA update on their infotainment? Any effect on sound quality. I currently play music with the volume knob dialled up to 50. Read on the net that the OTA upgrade has improved this, and now the volume knob needs to be at 11 or so. Bass and treble have also improved is what is mentioned.
Any news if this has been pushed out to India ?

Ooooh...Interesting. Yes, I put it between 40 to 50 for my EDM. And even I used to think the first 40 units of volume are such a waste. So, if at all globally there's a OTA for this to fix this to equate a 50 to 11, then I'm so looking forward to this.

Searched around a bit & found this, a reddit link where folks are talking about this.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Ioniq5/comm...ume/?rdt=52571

NEEV.USA.S5W_M.V011.004.231004.

As per the firmware version, looks like it got released in the US around 04-Oct-2023.

Did they fix it by following the STB ? Have just sent mine for the first service. Am also quite irritated by that squeaky noise in whats otherwise a great car. Am getting it serviced in Noida. If you have a direct phone number of the Hyundai technician who fixed it for you - do you mind sharing that ? Can ask Hyundai technician here to get in touch with him. (First service experience with the vehicle, dont have a lot of confidence in their ability here at Noida).

Yea please let us know if they did the STB fix or something else that they figured out? My dealership accepted the issue was present at the 2nd service and since then they have been “awaiting parts” for the fix (which they believe to be the struts) since 3 weeks now.

Clearly this issue is present in the Indian Ioniq 5 vehicles.. why Hyundai doesn’t issue the international STB locally or a recall so dealers can fix it or be aware on how to fix it ASAP is beyond me.

The squeak is actually starting to get really really annoying.

Hey, I’m in Gurgaon too and just recently developed the trunk rattle in my 3 month old car. Could you Please share which service Center and service advisor to get in touch please!
Thanks!

Not sure about TSB. Can't locate it right now to confirm. But it's a washer or something that you need to add to the trunk latch. I got mine fixed it Himgiri Hyundai's Gurgaon service centre. The guy said he's been getting regular complaints on the I5 for this, so he knew exactly what to do.

I generally inquired about the Ioniq and was really surprised to hear that they do not retail it at all, let alone have a test drive vehicle. Reason was quite basic (shockingly) - apparently they simply don't have a charging facility yet.

Just curious which dealer did you end up buying your Ioniq from Hayek? I'm guessing you'd have had to venture to a suburbs based dealer for this?

Re: Hyundai Ioniq 5 Review

$60,000 (Canadian) for battery replacement. i.e. more than the cost of new Ioniq 5.

* Dealership/Insurer decides that few scratches warrants battery replacement and warranty is void due to damage.

* Owners insurance declares it as a total loss. Unfortunately the future insurance premiums will increase (double) for the owner due to this incident.

* Warranty means nothing if scratches on battery protection cover can void it.

* The cost of battery replacement should be a major decider before EV purchase. I think OEMs should provide some price protection for x years.

Re: Hyundai Ioniq 5 Review

First of all, a great review. I wonder sometimes the passion keeps the people going. Why? But then a great review. All is good but two things I would like to add.
1. No spare wheel? hmmm.
2. I feel some of the gizmos can be avoided. This is not a luxury product it can be a Utilitarian product.
But then these are my random thoughts.

The TSB is about adding washers to the latch. So I guess he followed the TSB. I have sent my car to the service centre today for the same. Let's see what happens.

They did not follow the TSB but they have applied some grease to the latches and the problem seems to be fixed for now. Time will tell if it is a permanent solution or not.

If not I might have to try a different service centre as these guys did not even bother trying the TSB even after I showed it to them.

Re: Hyundai Ioniq 5 Review

Quick question. I noticed the version sold in India still comes with a 72Wh battery when, globally, the RWD is sold with a 78Wh battery. Why are we being sold a battery size that was upgraded in most countries 2 years ago?

Re: Hyundai Ioniq 5 Review

By the way, the ioniq has a 1.5L discount for MY2023 model in case anybody is interested.

This is official discount from hyundai and I doubt dealers would be able to offer anything additional other than a discount on insurance.

Ideally makes the car 50k more than the intro price of 45L. Also means you can get the car for essentially the Ex-showroom price, on road, in Bangalore.

I ended up going to Himgiri Hyundai service center as recommended by Member Huygens and they are well versed with the TSB! Performed the fix in an hour! No more rattle now!

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Review-ionic-battery-cost.jpg

Came across article ,need to rethink our decision to buy EV if cost would be such atrocious. Accidents would happen to any car and cost cannot be such ridiculous.
