Re: Hyundai Ioniq 5 Review

Hey all, I was at a hyundai showroom to take a look at the new verna when I spotted a black Ioniq 5 in the corner of my eye, here are my observations

1) It's Big

It doesn't look like it in the pictures, but it's way bigger than the creta/seltos/Vitara/Hyryder, I felt.

2) Quality

The interior is just fantastic, from the way it's laid out, to the feeling of roominess and luxury felt while sitting inside it, rivals many luxury cars at a higher price bracket IMO.

3) Wheels/Tyres

Not a very important point but the alloys on this car just look beautiful and intricately designed, the only glaring issue is the 20 inch size wrapped in the specialist michelin pilot sport EV. Potholes won't be very kind to this setup.

4) Seating position

The seats on the Ioniq are luxurious and well supported, completely electric with 8 way adjust, with calf support which felt like sitting on a sofa.
Not a big fan of how they've managed the design of the steering wheel but the indicator/headlight stalks are well damped, and no visible cost cutting

Overall, a very competent buy in the 50 lakh range which is really lacking in options as of now.
Cheers!

Yes, it's huge! I just bought some foam tape to stick on the pillar in my parking, despite not having scratched any car against it in the last 10 years!

Yes, I wish they used 19" rims, but I found the ride surprising compliant over the few potholes and speed breakers I could manage to go over on my test drive. Although I'm worried if Hyundai dealerships (or any other tyre shops) will have the Michelin 255/45/R20 EV tyre in stock, especially given that there is no spare.

Any update on delivery dates? Hyundai is keeping mum after I completed the last step...

For me, the CTB portal isn't updated to show 'In transit'. However, I have been informed that the car is in transit and expected to reach by the weekend. If you've got your temp registration, expect dispatch within 2 days.

Can you send me the contact of your agent? My agent from Lombard is quoting a higher price which is approx 120K.

Hyundai has asked me to submit the payment and insurance. Once I do that, I will get delivery in 2-3 weeks!

So the car is arriving at the dealership on the 13th or 14th but because 14th is Ambedkar Jayanti and then 15-16th is a weekend i値l only get the car on the 17th at the earliest.

This has been costly for me as I had to reschedule a flight and the fare difference was quite significant.

Looks like our cars are getting delivered on the same date then! What colour did you go for? Mine is Gravity Gold Matte.

I’m thinking it’ll be a Tuesday delivery to account for time for local registration etc.

Same color for me too. I will be picking it up on Monday. Had to postpone a business class ticket for their delay. I was supposed to fly out in the 15th.

Re: Hyundai Ioniq 5 Review

Went through the entire thread( I own a Ev6 AWD and clocked 5k on it) and have been sore since I heard ioniq launch.
Personally liked ioniq 5 looks originally, and but at that time it was not even announced for India. But now quite happy about Ev6, but comparison with ioniq is mixed bag
  • Ev6 performance and range is much better
  • CBU)(better quality?) vs CKD
  • ioniq is definitely pocket friendly and has all bells and whistles at an unbelievable price
  • looks wise it is polar opposite, and retro vs future
  • looking at specs, it seemed like ioniq has a few more create comforts? Rear seat ventilation, 12 point adjustment (against 10 on ev6)?

Some pointers
- the whirring sound is not from the motor, it's artifically added to give a sense of speed, and you can turn it off or choose different sounds
- the interiors are super quality, and wasn't expecting this from Kia
- if you're an "economic ICE driver", you see poor range on this. What I mean is my driving where I coast and use brakes minimally and don't revv the car much didn't help in my range. Fellow drivers were getting 7km per unit (battery is 78.4 units), I was barely getting 6.
- the charging speed is not a major issue. I charge occasionally on 50kwh or 130kwh chargers when I spend less than 30min in sessions (if I have at least 30-40% charge), but one AC chargers (7/11KWH) it takes over 8-10 hours.
- AC chargers also rebalances cells which increases range
- there is a hidden "engineering mode", similar to unlocking/rooting mobile phone and it opens at least few dozen features which are otherwise not available

Hi Raghav,

Appreciate your willingness to help. I joined a few weeks back; hence I do not see the option to DM.

Is there a way you can DM me, I think then I can reply.
