I am okay going ahead with 16 mm wire, given the logic of high voltage and safety measures, but the only problem I have is that laying a wire is not a 1 lakh rupee job anyway, just doesn't make any sense. My concern was that I am getting the same wire from the supplier at a cheaper rate and upon consulting him, he just confirmed that the installation company is just duping us at this point.

Need suggestions if I can get the recommended wiring done by my trusted source and just get these guys to install the charger once the car is in.
Option 1: get wiring done from your own source and inform and take approval of BYD team for the same.
Option 2: buy wire yourself, give it to BYD team and ask them to charge just for installation.

Had the length been less, you could have gone with a 10 sq.mm wire.

If you do use a lower thickness 10 sq.mm then there will a voltage loss and the wire will also heat up a lot, leading to any terminals in the switches or plug heating up and deforming the plastics that will most probably start a fire. Remember you are talking about several hours of 7kW continous load.
Most of the charger installers will make you waste a lot of money for things that are not required and they are all generally 3rd party companies that work on commision. Also as mentioned by someone else, the cable comes from your meter nor your apartment. So unless the meter is near your flat which they generally aren't - this seems to be a bit strange.

I would suggest 100% use your own trusted electrician and get it done yourself. Instead wasting that much money why not fit a standard 15amp A/C plug with a MCB ? Ref: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/elect...ctric-car.html (Why a cheap & simple 15A plug is just fine for home-charging your Electric Car)

I have used standard 15amp plugs since the past 4-5 years with a portable 3.3kw charger that can be picked up on Amazon for around 18-20k and still do so with my Seal. If my battery is say 30-40% it takes an overnight and say half the next day for a full charge and with the Atto3 battery size it will be less than that.

Re: BYD Atto 3 Review

Guys any update on deliveries for the dynamic variant? Delhi delaership today tells me that they have no news of cars having even been dispatched from china. They claim there is some internal issue but dont elaborate. They further say they expect some news by end of september about when cars will be dispatched. So basically, they are clueless.

I’ll probably wait for a week more and seek refund. Being in delhi and thanks to withdrawal of the road tax waiver, prices have already gone up by about 3 lakhs. So may not make too much sense for me any longer.

But anyone has any update on deliveries? Any leads appreciated

Same here. No updates and they're just parroting that hq will give allocation and update in month end. So thinking to cancel. Btw if we ask for refund will there be full refund or some cancellation fee will be charged? Any knowledge on this will be appreciated.

Well, they had taken an amount of 50000 as booking fee. They have always claimed that the amount is fully refundable. I in fact even got it in writing through a sales rep. I made sure he writes to me on whatsapp that the amount is refundable. But even today, they never deny that the entire amount would be refunded in case I chose to cancel.

Did you receive further updates from the dealer about the delivery?

The dealership received the first shipment last week. They said they got only dynamic & Superior variants. No premium variants. They offered us a Black Superior car but we opted against it.
Another shipment is expected in the second half of this month.According to them, ours will be included in that.

Re: BYD Atto 3 Review

Just got an update from my RM that deliveries have been delayed and we should expect to receive our atto 3 by the end of next month (essentially 30 to 45 days from what we were originally promised). This is for the black dynamic variant in Bangalore.

I think this appears to be a dealer-specific delay. I have heard from reliable sources that new variant cars are in transit and will reach dealers by next week.

Could be - there are only 2 dealers (total of 3 showrooms) in Bangalore, so a large number of us will be impacted by this.

I wonder if we could see a price reduction due to the new pricing announced by MG for the Windsor (non BAAS highest end version is INR 15.5L!)? Yes, the Atto 3 looks nicer, no denying that, but other than a 10 kwh battery difference, for a city vehicle, there are no meaningful downsides for the Windsor (headlights in the bumper could be an issue in a city like Bangalore).

Re: BYD Atto 3 Review

Update:

Our Atto 3 has reached the yard. White, premium variant and tyres are from Goodyear. I could not see ant 3.3 kW charging cable in the car. Per the website( variant feature list) we are supposed to get it. I Have asked the dealership to check it again.

The tentative delivery date has been fixed for next weekend.

Re: BYD Atto 3 Review

Hello Everyone!

I received my BYD Atto 3 Ski White on September 10th, 2024. I have driven about 1100 km so far, and it has been an exciting and quite luxurious drive.

BYD Atto 3 Review-img_7353.jpeg

A lot has been discussed about the car in general, I shall just stick to new information to update the thread.

I received one of the cars from the old batch, the car with the full "Build Your Dreams" logo on the hatch, silver dragon scale C-pillar, and in-built dashcam. They call this the superior version too.

From the VIN of the car, they do not mention the Month of Manufacture, only the Year. On the temporary registration document, they had mentioned the Month of Manufacture as August and the Year of Manufacture as 2024.

I continued driving the car on the stock Atlas Batman Tyres, and the ride isn't too bad. I found the ride comfortable, and the grip levels decent. Time will tell about tyre life and other parameters and will update the thread accordingly.

They have advised us to use the car in ECO mode for the first 2000 km and then switch up. I found myself switching between modes for brisk overtakes, especially on single-way carriageways. Played around with the Level of Regen too; at the standard level, the regen only displays up to-7kw', while at the high level, it goes up to '-36kw'.

On a drive in the ghat sections, I traveled about 100 km and used the battery from 100% to 65%. On the return leg of the journey, initially, I used from 65% to 60%, but after that, the regen allowed me to take the charge level back to 65%. I completed the round trip of 200 km with about 49% charge left.

Regarding charging, I received both the 7.2 single-phase kW charger and the 3.3 kW portable charger. The installation team for BYD India is handled by Relux India, and they are as slow as the slow charger. BYD India needs to learn a thing or two from MG Motors in this aspect, wherein after booking the vehicle in MG, they immediately send out a team to survey your home and inform you in advance of the necessary changes needed to install the fast charger. For BYD, after delivery of the vehicle, they come for survey/installation. The team came for a survey a week after I got delivery, and that too, after I had mentioned the same to BYD India during their feedback call. I have not yet gotten the charger installed (tentative installation is this week), as the survey team forgot to get the included 10 meters of cable for the charger. (Will upload a photo after installation of the charger.)

Also, regarding the portable 3.3 kW charger, it is quite slow to charge and charges at the rate of 1.7-1.9 kWh. I did a quick Google search on the issue and saw that worldwide BYD has stopped shipping with a 16A portable charger and they now ship with an 8A portable charger. It takes about 30 hours for a full charge. I use my other car in the downtime between charges as of now.

BYD Atto 3 Review-img_7375.jpeg

I found the cabin of the car rather too hot on a hot sunny day, even with the AC at MAX low and full blower speed, despite the car coming with 70% VLT glasses from the factory. I went ahead and got sunfilm installed on all windows and the front and rear windshields. Installed Garware Artic Cool. Also installed sunfilm on the sunroof. The cabin is noticeably cooler now and it takes about 2-3 minutes to fully cool the cabin on a hot day.

A photo after getting the sun films installed.

BYD Atto 3 Review-img_7459.jpeg

On the topic of AC, on a particular day, I was waiting for someone for a meeting. Ended up waiting for about 3 hours, all while sitting in the car with AC and the infotainment screen on. I used about 1% charge!

Some cool yet interesting features I discovered, not sure whether it was mentioned before.

- The door pad and speaker lights light up in red when there is a vehicle approaching your blind spot.

- You can use a 3-finger gesture on the touchscreen to quickly adjust
the AC temperature (up and down motion):
BYD Atto 3 Review-img_7439.jpeg
and fan speed (side-to-side motion).
BYD Atto 3 Review-img_7440.jpeg

- One can change their wallpaper as per their preference, as with a host of other options on the infotainment screen.

That's the important updates that I wish to share. Will update the thread as per any interesting discoveries/events. Would be happy to answer any queries.

@themonster Congratulations on the new ride.

Is sunfilm legal in India? Any particular thing to keep in mind while installing?
