Pininfarina Battista becomes the fastest-accelerating supercar; 0 - 100 km/h in 1.79 seconds

Pininfarina Battista has set a new record to become the fastest-accelerating and fastest-stopping road-legal supercar in the world.

The Battista hit 0 - 100 km/h in just 1.79 seconds, which is 0.5 seconds faster than a Bugatti Chiron. The Battista then went on to hit 200 km/h in 6 seconds & 300 km/h in 12 seconds before reaching a top speed of 349 km/h.

Similarly, in terms of stopping power, the massive 390 mm Brembo carbon ceramic disc brakes on the Pininfarina Battista helped it to come to a complete halt from 100 km/h in just 101 feet.

The Pininfarina Battista supercar comes with a 120 kWh battery pack, powering four electric motors producing a combined output of 1900 BHP and 2300 Nm. The electric supercar comes with a range of 476 km on a single charge, with fast-charging capabilities allowing a 20 - 80% charge in just 25 mins.

Pininfarina is said to produce just 150 examples of the supercar worldwide, with deliveries already having commenced.

That is quite astonishing.

For a while the general wisdom was that cars could not break the 2 seconds on the 0-100 km/h acceleration.

Who will break this record? Where would the ultimate limit be?

I never thought I'd see a car accelerate from 0-60 mph in under two seconds so soon. I first read about the Battista in 2018; that's a ton of time spent developing and refining the car, its powertrain and its chassis. The acceleration time clearly reflects all of that. Kudos to the engineers behind this!

The interesting thig about this for us is that Pinninfarina is 100% owned by Mahindra and Mahindra!

First the Rimac and now this. Just mind numbing what these machines are capable of. Huge props to the development teams for these unreal numbers. These records remind me of a video I watched 6 years ago -

Wow....that's some serious serious speed.

While EVs are hunting the 0-100 kmph claims, ICE cars are looking at opposite end 0-500kmph times.

Interesting times ahead. As Jeroen mentioned, the question is where does this madness (or engineering prowess) stop?

AFAIK Pininfarina batista borrows the power train and battery from Rimac Nevera

If Battista is being made in RHD then Anand Mahindra should definitely offer it in India.

Even if he brings one down for his personal collection. This car could be a great PR/Marketing tool for M&M

What G Force driver must have felt.. Any more increase & it could be lethal.

Far from lethal. Only 1.5g. Humans can withstand upto 10g for 2 seconds without permanent damage.

For comparison the standard frontal crash test in GNCAP produces over 10g of deceleration .

I am curious to know more about the tyres.
I believe, both, the Battista and the Nevera are running on Michelin's. To achieve this level of acceleration the mú coefficient of the tyres, has to be, I am guessing here, greater than 1.5 or 1.6?? Are the tyres made of a bespoke compound or commercially available "off-the-shelf" Michelin's? Or F-1 tyres? Because for the tyre to retain its integrity without warping at these levels of load transfer is remarkable indeed.
I am sure the AWD torque vectoring also supported a lot to achieve this feat. But still, I'm intrigued about the little black rings at the four corners of the Battista! Anyone has any information on the same?

Agree.

Thats true only for highly trained jet aircraft pilots - who are repeatedly subjected to high G Forces in centrifuge - with special bodily maneuvers at play.

Non G Forced moto drivers will definitely not die from pure G Force but from feeble reflexes required to handle vehicle at high G Forces - cumulating into an accident.

I would like to appreciate the tyres to sustain this much traction without slipping. At the same time, I would like to see the durability of these tyres under repeated bursts of 0-100 kmph.
But, kudos to the engineers to pull this feat. Truly astonishing..!
