The Audi Q8 e-tron made its global debut last week. Now, the carmaker has confirmed that the electric SUV will be launched in India soon.



The Q8 e-tron replaces the e-tron and e-tron Sportback in Audi’s EV line-up. It is offered in three trims: e-tron 50, e-tron 55 and e-tron S and comes in both SUV and Sportback body styles.

The design of the new Q8 e-tron range is similar to the outgoing model. It does get a few cosmetic tweaks to the front fascia, including a redesigned grille and air dam. The rear continues to feature a set of wraparound LED tail lights with a light bar in between.

The Q8 e-tron is available in dual-motor and triple-motor versions. The e-tron 50 and e-tron 55 variants pack 334 BHP / 664 Nm and 402 BHP / 664 Nm, respectively. The base variant comes with an 89 kWh battery pack offering a range of 509 km, while the e-tron 55 variant gets a 106 kWh battery that can cover up to 600 km on a single charge.

The top-spec e-tron S uses three electric motors with a combined output of 496 BHP and 973 Nm. It is powered by a 106 kWh battery offering 513 km of range.

I think it is a great way of building trust and indirectly makes electrics aspirational for the masses in a way. I like how Audi is slowly but surely waking up and launching new models in India, they even had an influencer campaign with Indian celebs for their e-tron.

The base 50 version of the Audi Q8 e-tron now has batteries with a capacity of 95 kWh (89 kWh net), whereas the former first-price e-tron was content with 64 kWh accumulators. The powertrain power associated with this version remains at 340 horsepower, but the range is progressing a lot: while it was limited to just 300 kilometers previously, it now exceeds 450 km according to the WLTP standard. A data more compatible with the vocation of a large luxury family SUV. As for the 55 version, it now receives batteries with a capacity of 114 kWh (104 kWh net), a huge figure that allows it to claim 600 kilometers of range. Its mass also climbs to 2,585 kilos, while the power remains at 408 horsepower. The SQ8 version, also equipped with large batteries, still develops 500 horsepower.
