Saw a white EQS in flesh. It can be mistaken for a white Verna/Elantra. Just from the outside design, it's S-class.

In my opinion the EQS simply can't match the S-Class' legendary nameplate. Until a true S-Class of Electric cars arrive, the S-Class would be my choice any day.

S-Class
When toy cars from china are looking far better, it is surprising for such an elite team to fail miserably in achieving desirability with the electric car's design.

This, in addition with the lack of practicality, macro economic vulnerability and the falseness of positive environmental impacts of EVs, makes the S-Class a uncontested winner here.

I vote for the S-class.

If I am biased towards driving feel or handling, acceleration or in plain words ‘fun to drive’ then both the EQS and the S-class are cars not to be considered. A 5 meter long and heavy car is not fun to drive and if a driver feels otherwise :P
For me, both the EQS and S-class exist as options if I am in the market for a luxury car. And in the luxury department the S-class beats the EQS by a long margin.

I have used both cars for a good amount of time and for thousands of kms. Sometimes have driven these two back to back. The EQS gives you the highest bragging rights today. It is futuristic, its shape is like a mammoth and it's got a ton of bells and whistles. It's both fast and silent and is the best method to commute if budget isn't a concern.

For the rest of the automotive enthusiast in me, its the S class all the way. As speeds go higher, the electric motor of the EQS starts getting slower to respond and at some point hits the wall in acceleration due to it's top speed limit. The S class is a beast that shows no tiredness. It has almost everything in the EQS in terms of features and still offers upto a 1000km range in one tank of diesel in the S350 and the thirsty petrol engine will never disappoint you and still give you healthy range in the 500kms band. And it has plenty of more space and luxury. And it still has a majestic road presence.

So if I had the moolah I would pick the S class anyday until it's sold or in case I have more money then I would add an EQS

Will pick the S for being the best at what it is meant for - the highest level of luxury and comfort.

Not sure can say the same for EQS. If it’s meant to be an electric equivalent of an the S, then the rear seats are clearly a compromise. Just saw a reviewer talk about Mercedes reworking on the rear seat for the next model year. If it’s meant to be a drivers car, am sure there are other options like Porsche Taycan which are more attractive. Even the EQE AMG variants are likely to be better drivers cars without much lost in terms of luxury..

When the EQS review was out, I had already stated that the S Class is a wayyy better deal at that price.

Compromised EQS Vs Flagship S is a no brainer.

So I test drove both EQS SUV and EQS sedan just couple days ago and my vote goes to S class.

Here are my observations based on about an hour long test drive on both, EQS sedan and SUV combined:

A nice first attempt by Merc on EV band wagon.
Simply the most luxurious EV out there.
Range is claimed 305 Miles but varies like any other EV.
Accelerates nicely and without any drama.
Handling is acceptable for its size.
Interior quality is no match for S class or GLS respectively.
Interior space is also less compared to S class and GLS respectively.
Lots of Hard plastics - specially in lower spec models without the Hyper Screen. Simply, unacceptable at this price point.

Glad to see that I am not alone in this opinion. I rode a EQE sedan in Stockholm and wrote similar opinion on the EQE thread. rode a few more EQE's since then and I am all the more convinced that Mercedes should have literally created a separate brand for EV's.

The difference between ICE and EV in Audi's are not as stark as that of Mercedes.

Voted for EQS

It’s just a simple range anxiety killing machine. At 600+ Kms i don’t think there is any other machine in India to match its range.. And the tech inside is quite futuristic in my view.

Though the back seat of an S is still the best. But EQS is a drivers car and not for backseat lovers.
